I really hate this but it seems necessary, as the experience was not good, nor was the food that great and I love love the OG Thai Esan in Eastridge. We got there and a large party was leaving so we stood for several minutes waiting to be seated, we understood this so it wasn't that big of an issue, we did wait about 15 minutes for a waitress, which doesn't seem a lot unless you actually work in the business and know this was too long. She came and got our drink order, and left us looking at the menu and looking and looking..you get idea. Finally we ordered and all was going well until our sushi arrived, prior to the appetizer my daughter ordered..she wasn't upset as food was in front of her..but with sushi doused in eel sauce, way too much eel sauce, you need chopsticks..we had none, and no soy sauce. I caught our waitresses eye, but she turned and ran, yes ran back to the kitchen, I finally got up and asked for the chopsticks and the soy, that young lady was lovely and gave me the ramekins we needed also. Now the place was not full by any means, but our waitress appeared haggard and not on her game obviously, she did bring out the appetizer and a refill on my tea and we were set. The sushi was not the worst but it was seriously lacking flavor, the rice tasted like the sushi rice vinegar was not added, nor salt. The fried soft shell crab and fried shrimp in my rolls had a thick flavorless batter, so was unable to determine the flavor of the seafood, my daughters eel roll was ok, but all the rolls were doused in eel sauce, this being sweet took over everything. The spring rolls were ok, but the original Thai Esan's are much better not sure why. Well we get through and she came over and I ordered my all time favorite dessert to go, mango sticky rice..and she brings the check. We wait, and wait and yep wait some more, she finally drops off my dessert and the box my daughter requested and thank you ect..but my card is still in the book waiting to be ran..so she runs and cashes us out. well..I get home and decided I wanted my dessert, oh man, that was the worst thing I have ever ate from any Thai place ever. The mango was ok, out of season but still not bad, but I knew this going in, the coconut was fine, but the rice? yeah, wow, it was formed into a rectangle so I went to scoop out a bite and my spoon could not cut into it..so I thought well maybe it's just the plastic spoon, so being as I was home, I fished the triangle out with my fingers and took a bite, my teeth couldn't get through it..it was semi soft on the outside and rock hard in the middle, I am not even sure how they did that, but they accomplished it, talk about disappointment.. So in closing my long tale here, Thai Eson, please teach these cooks about flavor and how to make sticky rice please, and I may actually return, but for now am sticking with the OG in...

My bf and I have been to so many sushi places locally and in other states. We order the same basic rolls and normally some specialty rolls for fun. The basic rolls all taste the same and delicious from other places, not here. We ordered a lot and had other problems arise too but Iāll keep it this as short and simple with the actual issue that upset me the most.
A Spicy Tuna Roll is a Japanese Sushi Roll made from minced Sashimi-Grade tuna (Negitoro.) (I got the definition from Wikipedia) Weāve ordered this roll from every single place weāve been to. We call it an old reliable because itās always good no matter where you go and theyāre all made this way. Thatās not the case here.
We ordered spicy tuna roll there, we got it served to us, it didnāt have it minced or any āspicyā on it, just plain tuna filet sushi with some cucumber thrown in. We ask were the spicy part is to the server and she understood what we meant. She took it to the blue haired guy, he shook his head and put spicy Mayo on it. After we saw that we were confused. My bf was starving and didnāt want to keep fussing but I was truly confused. No other place we have ever been to serves it this way and advertises it as spicy. I donāt like eating food unless I love it so we asked for refund and got a partial. It was going to be over $50 for sushi that was like Publix sushi. I felt cheated because at Hana, they make it perfectly and $50 is so worth it there every time. I guess weāll stay going there.
Becca the server was great. The blue haired guy needs an attitude adjustment and the manager needs to advertise on the menu, they donāt make traditional spicy rolls and to not make the customer feel odd when questioning this.
I understand not every restaurant has to do the same thing but if itās basically universal at other restaurants to be made one way and they donāt do it that way, tell the customer or make a note on the menu that they donāt do it the traditional way.
Anyways, Iām sure the hibachi is good there because thatās what we mainly saw people eat there anyways. Go other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had high hopes when I walked in as it is new! Thatās where it quickly ended. Lady at the front was not particularly nice to another staff member who came up with a question. She just told that person something to the extent of ānot nowā then barked at someone where to sit us and walked away. Just felt tense.
Got a pineapple mojito that didnāt have much flavor. Rest of the table had soda and water. Crab rangoons were OK. They had grease actually dripping at the bottom.
The sushi however was not good at all. They put way too much vinegar in the sushi rice. Made it unpleasant to eat and ruined the flavor of the fish. I suppose it was lucky for us the rolls had not much rice in them to begin with. Even the specialty rolls were unremarkable with hardly any flavor. Not much fish in any of it. Had the most expensive roll labeled HOT and it had practically no flavor at all. Whatever it was that was āhotā must not have been on it.
Iāve never been to a sushi place that doesnāt at LEAST offer wasabi/ginger/soy sauce. We asked for some (there was 4 pple). We were literally given a small dish with 1/8 tsp of wasabi and like 5 tiny dried out inedible pieces of ginger for the entire table. We got all our sushi combined on one large plate as we were sharing which is fine, but no small plates. I asked for plates and was given only 1. The chopsticks were the cheapest ones that splinter and I had to ask for those. Which, if you are used to eating with even wooden chopsticks, they were rough and really unpleasant to eat with. I can only explain the awkwardness as sushi made and served by someone who doesnāt eat sushi. Was such a bummer and we would...
