stopped by after a long flight. Had to wait and wait and wait to pay for a pre-made sandwich and ordered a latte. There were 6 people working on the machines, tasting and adjusting. I thought they were ignoring the long line and just not paying attention so I started getting snarky and irritated. Finally got my latte and sat down to eat & drink. Sandwich was ok, just average, and I fully expected the coffee to be mediocre but I was shocked. It was the best coffee ever! After being a bee-atch during checkout, I went back up to the counter after I was done and asked for the manager who apologized as the machines were being calibrated and weren't working properly. I told him I wanted to apologize for being rude & impatient and that this coffee was well worth the wait. He beamed and thanked me. I told him I would stop by in 4 days when I came back for my return home. So 4 days later, I popped in and got fast service and the manager was there behind the counter. He remembered me and said "this ones on me" and gave me a free coffee. Which really impressed me. See? Being nice and apologizing for being rude gets you free coffee. The downside? I am now addicted to the Brazil roast and think I'll have to fly back to the MSP Airport to get more! Seriously, I'm a coffee snob, and this stuff is like crack to me. Give these guys a break as they get used to their machinery and how to operate - tell them you appreciate their efforts - heck, just treat them as humans when they're having a bad day, and you might just fall in love with...
Read moreI had a fairly long wait in MSP recently (Saturday, 02/01/2020) and had coffee twice at the Roasting Plant. Both times, the server (first a young man, then a young woman) were very pleasant, and helpful. They helped me pick out a roast I was likely to like, and indeed the coffee was very good. Unfortunately, I left my credit card at the register and traveled home. I put a hold on my credit card as soon as I realized I had misplaced it. I really didn't want to cancel the card as I have a few regular payments taken from there and I didn't want to change those. Monday I was able to get through to the director of operations, Bill, and he agreed to search for the card. Read moreI am so sorry to have to mark this down, but as a European, I do have higher coffee expectations, especially from a place with such elaborate machinery and marketing as something more than the run of the mill coffee shop. I'm a simple late/flat white/cortado drinker, and really expected a late here to be better, especially given the prices the vast array of choice. Call me a snob, but I like my coffee strong, with body, a good extraction and topped off with steamed milk, but was underwhelmed with the weak, understated and disappointing taste of my late.
