🇸🇻 The restaurant is very simple without pretense. The south wall is full of Central American products and food for sale. Decorated simply with a few paintings and a couple of TVs. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive with your choice of fountain beverages or Mexican soda bottles. So I gave the atmosphere and service 5 stars based on what category it is in: a family-run small business specializing in ethnic dishes. I am not comparing it to a large restaurant chain or a gourmet restaurant with professionally trained front of house staff. GET THE PUPUSAS!!! I love them all, but my favorite is the mixed or the bean and cheese. They're served with Curtido, which is like El Salvadorian coleslaw-sourkraut-kimchi. It's delicious, vinegarie with heat. When you order chips and salsa, they fry the chips fresh for you. The salsa is thick with tomatoes, white onions, cilantro, and jalapeños. It's very tasty with a nice kick 😋. The Tostones are fried plantains with cream and are a sweet desert to help pull the fire away from their red and green homemade hotsauce or any of the 4 or 5 different bottles of hotsauce on the table. Their tacos are delicious, too, corn tortillas stuffed with steak or chicken and cilantro and onions. Really flavorful! On cold and rainy days, they have excellent soups, Sopa de Gallina with fried chicken or Caldo De Res, which come with El Salvadorian white rice and plain pupusas. They have Elote and egg dishes and steak and seafood, quite a large menu that I have yet to work my way through. I love this little restaurant. It's the epitome of the American...
Read moreThis place could be bigger or update the space inside for dining in HOWEVER, my family is from Guatemala and I’m from Chicago/NWI and finding good authentic family food is hard but this place is soooo good. Great for carry out orders. I get the zucchini and cheese pupusas or the bean and cheese and with the cabbage and sauce you get is soooo good when all paired together. 10/10 food, prices and service. Also the Piña is sooo good😍😍 especially so big for the price!! I will say order ahead of time because this place does get busy especially on the weekends so I’ll order 20-30 minutes in advance for my carry out order. Can’t beat the prices for the amount of food. I can feed 3 adults for $30-$35!! Only thing I can give to the owner as far as constructive criticism is more bilingual people for phone service, add silverware/ napkins in the bag & update the space inside or open another location for better dining in purposes ☺️ I would love to eat inside with...
Read moreGot carry-out a couple weeks ago. Over all the food was good, but the papusas and tostones (plantains) were pretty greasy. I think maybe the deep fryer just needs to be hotter. The papusas we had were chorizo, asada (steak), chicharron (pork), ayote (squash), and spinach. The chorizo and chicharron had good flavor, but the other 3 could have used more filling. The tostones were awesome (despite being greasy) because a lot of them were heavily caramelized -- so much so they were a bit chewy which I count as a plus! For dessert we had an order of flan and it was the best of everything... I'll be getting that every time! On the side was sour cream, red and green salsa, and a homemade slaw. One of the salsas was pretty spicy and the homemade slaw was one of the hottest things I have ever eaten. I have no idea what they spiced it with,...
