Everything is better in Fort Wayne. That is the cities new motto. And if you don't like it you can just “go to Indy". Nothing is better than wondering around the gnarly misty streets and coming upon a little dinner. What I like about this place is the few times I've visited. I've managed to miss the lunch rush! Seriously, the Fort can rock your socks so hard that you literally would make up excuses to drive, or fly yourself out here. Yes there was another location, further away from where I live, but I like the employees at this one better. This place is yet another reason why I love this hood. Small and unassuming it packs a punch! Last time I was here, they were mopping the floor and everything was in total disarray, yet they still managed to make my sandwich in a timely manner. Last time I dined here, I tried the egg sandwich, it was so darn good. One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had in a while. It fell apart all over the darn place making it a bit more of a garbage plat that I had to eat with my hands. Otherwise, yum! Another good one is the breakfast special. Maybe I like it because of its name? I dunno,,,, But the yokes of the eggs seemed to look back at me. I don't mean to slight my Loyalty to Ft Wayne staples. But Powers easily makes the best burgers in town. Juicy, flavorful and neither overdone or underdone. These burgers are tasty! The different hot sauces add that special something to give these burgers a distinguishing ZING. The competitors just don't have. Plus the added ingredients are always fresh, crisp pickles, soft cheese, and melt-in-your-mouth caramelized onions. All in all Powers gives one heck of a good burger for a good price. Defiantly a favorite. The stories of living in Australia that one person kept talking about made me want to attack someone though. Parking is free in their parking lot. Or along the...
Read moreOK, first off the atmosphere looks a lot better than what it ever did so that is definitely a Positive. I’ve ordered my burgers the same way for all these years. I went to powers hamburgers with my dad ever since I was four and I am now 50. I understand they have new people that they’re trying to train but a manager should be up there with the people training. This is what happened. I ordered 15 cheeseburgers raw onion as I don’t like the cook onion my order process my payment and then I sat there for 45 minutes waiting to get my 15 cheeseburgers raw onion. All the times in the past that has never happened. My order kept getting pushed to the back because the raw onion and they kept pumping out everybody else’s orders that came in the door five minutes ago, but I kept getting pushback because I ordered raw onion then the manager comes over while the one guy goes to break, and starts trying to run the show the same girl that is doing the expediting is doing the exact same thing she did and moving new orders in front of older orders. The manager did clean up the area back there as it was a mess, which was has never been like that for all the years we’ve gone there, and she did wipe down the butcher block behind the grill, but unfortunately, my burgers were placed on the butcher block after the wipe down And now they are all soggy on the bun. I am so upset and I hope the new owners train these people a little bit better than just sending them out there on their own to learn. There is a major reputation to withhold here in the Fort Wayne area of fast, friendly burgers, and 45 minutes for 15 burgers. It’s ridiculous. I’m not sure if I will go back...
Read moreStopped in, my first time in 15 plus years to try the sliders w/ onions. Ordered 2 doubles & 1 single patty.I recommend the double. Didnt order the fries which is/was a $3 dollar upgrade. Two doubles, a bag of chips & a drink is $8.50 before tax of 8% I added the single which cost another $1.89 after tax. Luckily I did, only ordering two small doubles wouldnt have filled me up or curb that hunger. Everyone was friendly. The two female employee's up front were getting things done. Everyone was happy coming in & glad to see them back in business after purchasing the business from former owners & then the interior fire. Looks like the place is back to normal & ready for customers. While I sat at the main bar, there was always a steady stream of people coming in to order or pick up online orders. There is a nice area to sit outside or just stay inside & enjoy the food & local conversation with those ordering takeout. Definitely will go back. Just not regularly due to food costs. My sliders were hot off the grill, onions were cooked perfectly & bread was fresh & even donut like where it melts in your mouth. I noticed the onions don't have the taste nor smell of the onions of Powers 20 plus years ago. All in all....I give it an A grade for freshness & B for taste. They were always bland until you added your own ketchup, mustard or hot sauce. It was ketchup & mustard for me on all. Next time in for food,, I will order 5 doubles & the house chili. Just that is $20 with tax without beverage. The two gals taking orders were friendly & talkative. I give them an A for always making sure my beverage was...
