Update: on 10/27/2023 around 6pm-I went in for the first time since my original review. I’m updating this review to a 4 star from a two star because drinks are now being prepared before the drivers are picking up the orders. One drink was already prepared and the employee, Shelby, who was making the to-go orders made three more drinks while I waited for the order I was picking up. Kudos to management for correcting their protocol without responding to my review with an unnecessary, scripted response like other restaurants have on my reviews.
Employee not following a health protocol. On Sunday, October 8, 2023, the last half hour before closing I went in to pick up an order. As I walked in I watched the employee place the order and an empty cup on the pick-up shelf. I immediately told her, delivery drivers are not allowed to ‘prepare’ drinks. She said ok, walked over and spent 15 seconds preparing the drink and handed it to me and walked off. Typically, the employees are very gracious, friendly and welcoming and always prepares the drinks when I ask with the best customer service. Not this one, she made it visibly clear she wasn’t happy to make the drink which is what prompted this review.
Management: The Tarrant County Health Department requires all employees who work in the food industry to take a food and health class to certify they are educated in all safety protocols which include preparing food and DRINKS. Only certified employees can prepare food and DRINKS with properly clean hands or gloves.
Delivery drivers are not employees of Cava and should not prepare drinks for one, but two, they are unable to properly clean their hands prior to preparing drinks. By having them prepare drinks is a violation of the health code and can be reported as such.
Also, you have paid employees to ‘prepare’ drinks. Stop passing on that duty to delivery drivers/complete strangers to prepare drinks for your pre-paid customers. They don’t get paid to prepare, only to pick up and deliver by a third party company, not by you. Not one customer in your restaurant when I walked in and all employees were cleaning except for the employee preparing the order and she had the nerve to have an attitude for doing her job and meeting the health departments safety protocols.
If I walk in there again and see an empty cup with the order I’m picking up, it will be reported to...
Read moreMy order was incorrect for a web order. The manager who called himself John when I asked his name was very rude, passive aggressive, and condescending, to the point where it be thought he has a racial bias to people of color. I asked for my order to be put in a new bag since they put my order in the bag with someone else’s food. Harper/John was changing the bag as he did, he said it was a waste of bag in a passive aggressive manner as he threw the bag away. He did not want to give me another bag, but the person who was not there, he was happy to give another to because he put that person’s order quickly into another bag. When putting my order in another bag, he left out the pita and the sauce. He threw the pita into my bag. He tried to argue with me about the sauce. It was sitting by the other bag. I saw that he left it out. I had to tell him three times the sauce was by the other bag. He asked to look in my bag, and he asked what kind of sauce even though I told him it was over by the other bag. I asked for the manager that was over him. He did not want to give me the information, but gave me a name of Brittany Szikizi, which does not sound like a really name. I Googled it, and no one comes up. I also asked for a corporate number or contact. He told me to Google it. He lacks in customer skills and tact. He told that he felt uncomfortable, so I guess he was going to call the police on me for asking for his manager and the corporate information. He started to say that he was uncomfortable, so I guess he was going to call the police on me because I asked for the contact information to report my encounter with him. When calling another store, they quickly gave me the information to...
Read moreAlicia. I walked into Cava today deep in thought. Maybe I'm getting the winter blues or maybe I'm feeling the situationalship of life. The weight of responsibilities between, finances, rent, work, leveling up. Sometimes that space of security and comfortability seem so unattainable. So not to write a novel about my Cava experience today bit to recognize that people are out here trying to live, trying to make it and you never know what space of that experience people are in. As I approached to line to order I could sense Alicia was in some deep thoughts as well. As I started my way through the ordering process, chosing a protein some veggies maybe some hummus. I asked how this person was doing, they let out a deep sigh, I replied with "ditto". When asked the same I acknowledged their sign and just spoke about how sometimes life just feels like it really be lifing and sometimes that feels heavy or stagnant or scary. I explained how deeply I'm just looking for that sweet spot of being able to breathe, find a job with sustenance and security. One that holds individual experience and value at its core. As I was paying for my order I realized we were both giggling and smiling and connecting. I say all this to reiterate that it takes only a moment to change someone's day, or mindset or even Theo life. We never know where each other is. All this in the span of two minutes to order food, pay and make a customer for life. Thank you Alicia. Cava has a real one with you. You are worthy of...
