El Fenix — Restaurant in Fort Worth

I've been coming here for years never complain about they food 😌 always gave great reviews but this one time a year later I wanted to come have a meal my favorite enchiladas platter I've been eating it for years since I'd was little girl I know what enchiladas look like when my plate was brought to me I were very disappointed 😞 it had all this white stuff on top tortilla breaded with two type of cheese inside no meat what so ever no Chilli sauce nothing had cube of meat on top with lots of cheese, what I ask for was enchiladas plate with sour cream and steak meat onion pepper to the side that mean you put them separately smal dish and I wanted whole pinto beans 🫘 not mash one and the rice it wasn't fresh top it off I had a silver sqeakual that came off someone clothing in my drink and on my plate I kept trying to drink my drink was wondering why is it so hard for me to pull through the straw then I saw it in my glass I just too it out over look it not wanting make a scene it's not me. I came into my favorite restaurant due to feeling really low sad I knew eating good food surrounding of friendly people cheer me up it turnt out to be a disaster day so I sent that meal back I just couldn't sit there eat cheese and tortilla with hot sour cream grease with mash bean and rice. So I ask for two soft taco 🌮 and two shell 🌮 omg I'd pick it up and tone of grease just came out as if it was purposely put there so that the grease will run down my clothing bid you not I tried not to feel uncomfortable but I did I felt like I was being treated this way on purpose just because of who I were my skin tone this how I was made to feel the taco falling apart which shouldn't the grease it was definitely pour on there it was clear grease it was intentional. I've eaten in this place enough to know when I wasn't being treated right this was the first if they were trying to get me not to come back they succeeded I was felt discriminated against due to how they serve me I'd just notice to many unpleasant things I watch carry out plate that a customer ask for being carried under person armpits holding them under they under arms then giving to customer I for one receiving one I politely put my food on and I'd left you can rest assure I'd didn't eat that food I threw it away so I left my favorite restaurant out all Mexican food places to go I choose them as number 1 they truly disappointed me never I had ever felt so bad I came in feeling hurt sad left worser this place always cheered me up just going after that I will not return but my thing is for someone to tell me what they serve me is enchiladas when it's not!!! to tell me it doesn't come with meat as if I don't know what I'm eating as if I'd never eating Mexican food before it the only meal I really like outside taco burritos the rest I don't eat it so after years you know they food but certain person told me that how they make enchiladas its never meat inside always on top which not true.the photo was from July 2024 this what my plate should look like that enchiladas in front of me the other person having steak it was definitely good. what they serve me in NOVEMBER I don't know what that was that they serve me the day i came. never want it again I don't what happen between July and now but...

Love this Place! The customer service was amazing, very accommodating and friendly . I hadn’t been to EL FENIX since I was around 12 years old. My Grandmother use to take me and my sister there after church for lunch. I always had such fond memories of being there enjoying the food and time with my family. So it was only natural that I would return! Of course I’m all grown up now, with a beautiful family of my own. So I decided to take my Son there for lunch last Sunday, who turned 12 years old this year. I very much hoped that he would have the privilege of experiencing the kind of fondness I had for that place as a child. Upon arrival we were quickly seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant. It was so beautiful outside that day, and there was sunlight pouring in from all around the restaurant it was beautiful! We ordered Chile con Queso a.k.a. (The lovely cheese I dip accompanied with a lovely red oChile sauce they have. Called chili picante) so that’s what we ordered as part of our appetizer with our chips and salsa. (Which the chips and Salsa are free btw) Love it when restaurants do this!) So my Son is NOT a fan of salsa of any kind, AT ALL.. but he not only tried it he loved it! I was sooo happy for his little taste buds! And I was thinking one of the reasons that he probably wasn’t reluctant to try it was because of the bright red colors . You know how when salsa is made fresh the colors extremely bright?!?!!? Well they say that kids are more likely to try a food if it is fresh. Pretty cool huh?!?! Food for thought! Lol! And I also recently found out that EL FENIX sells that same salsa there in the restaurant. And not only that but they even sell it at target. So obviously I have To start buying it now! Lol! So let’s talk about the main course! So my son and I both love hard tacos, so we both starting searching the menu for a good taco platter type situation. 😁 When our waitress approaches us and shows us this lovely little lunch special they offer . It’s like a mix and match kind of thing. They offer three tacos 🌮 🌮 🌮 rice and beans there’s a soup or salad too. And I know they have chalupas and enchiladas and a couple of other choices. But you get the choice to mix or match any of those 3 you want! It was only 7 something! It was a lot of food! What a steal ,right?!??!! But we did ours with all Tacos ! I’m sure y’all saw that coming told you we love hard tacos🌮 .😁 The food was awesome, and we had a wonderful time ! An experience I know we will always remember. Thank you EL FENIX for keeping your atmosphere, great food and ppl together all this time. We really did appreciate the experience! Just like I remembered 😁!!!!!!...

Service was fair, the server was friendly to my male friend but very icy, almost hostile to me. He ordered a chili relleno platter which looked delicious which his comments attested to the tastiness. I ordered the Juarez Platter, which was suppose to have had 2 enchiladas, 1 beef and 1 cheese, with the standard beans and Spanish rice. His meal arrived looking wonderful, cooked to order. Mine, not so much. The cook had shorted me my beef enchilada and when I told the server, rather than whisk my plate away to fix the problem she argued the point with me. I had to prove, literally shiw her there was only one enchilada, it was humiliating. Reluctantly with much glaring she carried my plate to the kitchen and set it on the table curtly asking if I needed anything else. I said thank you but no, I was fine. A second later I regretted my haste, the meal had been brought back to me like warm, the cheese no longer melted since they didn't bother reheating it. My friend kept apologizing profusely even though I said don't worrz But seriously if my meal and service was the only one I was rating here it would only receive 2 stars. While my pal was embarrassed after boasting so about the wonderful Mexican food and excellent service they always received at this particular El Fenix Restaurant, he did smile when I laid down a $5 tip and asked if it was enough in his opinion. Still he had a man to man conversation concerning the ridiculous contempt the server had shown me, the way she argued, and brought the plate of food back out not even quite look warm. The atmosphere was perfect for an authentic night of South of the Border Cuisine and apparently my friend had no complaints about his delicious steaming plate of food or the servers overtly friendly service and smiles which were all for him. LOL I"m a good sport about that stuff because he and I are merely friends but I having waited tables before know to leave my personal baggage at the door and treat every customer like they're golden. Never argue or show disdain and make sure the food is correct and the appropriate temperature. Who knows, may that tip would have been bigger ...
