Great food! Don't let appearances keep you from trying this German food gem! It's not much to look at. It's housed in the old Denny's on Camp Bowie. The inside doesn't look a lot different from when it was a Denny's, either. Seems some of the wall paint and art has changed, and there are now kitschy red and white vinyl checkered table cloths on the tables. But you can come here dressed comfortably, kick back with a giant Paulaner, and enjoy some amazing German food. We unfortunately showed up an hour before they closed. It was our first time at Little Germany, we were celebrating a birthday, and we had a list of many dishes we wanted to try. When we saw they'd be closing soon, we took a several entrees off our list, but still ended up with enough food for an army. We had Shaslik, beef ala, Jager and Vienna schnitzel, (on the combination plate which came with two sausages) the six sausage plate - but they also offered us two seasonal sausages, one beer based, the other venison, so it became an eight sausage plate, (we had a total of 10 different sausages adding them all together!) potato pancakes, potato dumplings, pan fried potatoes, red cabbage, Sauerkraut, the (goulash based, I think?) soup, two types of bread, and of course, Spatzle. We took home a piece of chocolate cake and apple strudel, and what felt like 30 pounds of leftovers! All of it was amazing. The highlights, though, were the Shaslik (we ordered it with beef and pork only, no chicken) and especially, the beef ala, neither of which we'd ever had before. I typically do not enjoy red cabbage at other German restaurants (though I like cabbage in general) but I really loved the way it was done at a Little Germany. We felt so bad showing up so close to closing time. We were trying to hurry, and as soon as all our food arrived, I took a few bites and began the huge task of packing everything up to go while my birthday guest continued eating. Our waitress was so kind, and never rushed us at all. She did help me pack up some of the take home items, which we appreciated. I know her and the other couple of staff members did not want to be kept late. We did keep them just a few minutes late and we felt terrible... We are so sorry. We hope our tip made up for it. Anyway, it seemed as though all the food was cooked fresh as we ordered it, and our server was great, and very attentive. Even though we told her from the beginning we were going to be taking a majority of the items home with us, she, and/or the kitchen staff individually plated up every single dish for a nice presentation. Also, they use smattering of older mix-match dishes to serve the food upon, which I think is kind of neat. The prices are extremely reasonable for the serving sizes, and quality of food you receive. We spent a small fortune that night, but we ordered half the menu! We will definitely be returning, repeatedly, and will order the other half of the menu, as well. Maybe just not all at once, and we'll definitely check their hours ahead of time next time. I think Little Germany is superior to the place down the road on the traffic circle, and you don't have to listen to the awful live polka music! Thanks again to the staff that night for making sure we had such a great time. I'll attach a few photos with this review, but I was in a flying hurry taking them, due to the time crunch.... they probably don't do the food justice. Go to Little Germany; you will not regret it.

My wife and I were so excited to eat here after I conveyed some reviews to her. I called ahead, to make sure they were open and if we needed a reservation. I was greeted on the phone by a very sweet young sounding lady. Found the place easily and it did look like an old Denny's restaurant, which others had stated. Interior was not German, except for a few German flags. Beer was spot on. Cold, right amount of head and appeared fresh. The bread was similar... Cold, but seemed rather stale and even the bread that I would have thought was pumpernickel, was almost completely flavorless. We had the potato pancake appetizer. Two of what I believe we're six pieces seemed okay-ish. Still a bit greasy, but has some decent flavor. Applesauce and sour cream were both good. The other 4 pancakes were greasy and just didn't taste good. Overall 3 out of 10. The good ones were maybe a 6. We ordered the Jägerschnitzel and sausage entrees. Jägerschnitzel is what I use to set a standard for a German restaurant. The batter used to make the Jägerschnitzel was crispy, but wasn't really a good texture, the coating itself didn't taste good and seemed a mismatch flavoring from the meat inside. The meat was thin, which was ok, but it seemed like a small portion, which actually worked out. The Jäger sauce was not sauce, but more like gelatin and had some mushrooms in it. It was not good. We didn't even finish it. That has never happened and we have had many. Jägerschnitzel did not score. 0 out of 10. The sausage platter next. The sausages were actually ok. 8 out of 10. The mustard very tasty. And now for the sides. The red cabbage seemed overcooked and perhaps out of a can. (My wife says it was similar to canned peas. Squishy). The flavoring could have been a 7 out of 10, but with the consistency, it did not score. The sauerkraut was about the same consistency as the red cabbage but had also some ok flavoring. Overall about a 4 out of 10. The potato salad was cold, with some vinegary flavoring and was not worth finishing. The pan fried potatoes were also not appetizing. Both receive no score. No, our waitress, Heidi. She was actually the one that answered the phone prior to our arrival. Very sweet, great attitude and helpful. There were several times when she was just not around for several minutes. Seemed odd. She earned a 10 for her personality. Strike a point for being gone for long periods. Seemed as if she was in the kitchen helping things get out.. dunno? Overall, we have decided we will not being returning. My wife informed me that this restaurant was at another location a few years ago that we had checked out. We didn't like that either. We went once and never returned there either. Disappointed for sure. Heidi is awesome though. Hope they get their kitchen in order and start making some good food. We did think though, it could have been someone other than the normal cook on the Sunday night we went last weeK. But not worth the $100 it cost for this experience to roll the dice again.

Prepare for a low ceiling when you first walk in the place, not bad just surprising. We were greeted by a very friendly waitresses and told to sit wherever we like. We ordered a sampler, which was fantastic mix of shrimp, fried jalapenos, and fried mushrooms with a mushroom sauce that to be honest we thought it was Ranch. We each ordered the special which was a 2 lb ham shank or a 12 oz strip steak. This came with a soup or Salad and 2 sides. The drink made me laugh out loud as it was in a one liter glass and is the biggest cup of tea I've ever seen in my life. When the food arrived the only tiny issue I had was my steak was a little overcooked which they fixed immediately. The red cabbage is a little bit sweet a little crunchy and almost taste like a dessert, super good. The German fried potatoes are like hash browns but better and come with curls of grilled onion in them as well. We got the apple strudel for dessert which was the best decision I've made all day. It came with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. It was like a pancake on steroids. We will be back to try other food as my boyfriend did not like his ham, as he didn't know a ham shank mostly is fat but we will be back to try something else for sure!

Oh man, it was perfect. It's been years since I've said I love a restaurant, but this one totally earned it. First of all, the customer service was way more than good. Julie (?) was our server and she treated us like we were family and she's known us for years. Very, very friendly people. We went there mainly to hang out until the fireworks started (on the outside it looks a little run down) and normally we probably would've passed right by it, but I'm so glad we didn't. The inside reminds me of the restaurant in Lady and the Tramp disney movie. It's nothing blingy or over-the-top flashy/fancy, but it's old-fashioned and is definitely somewhere I want to take someone on a first date. It gives you that nostalgic and romantic feeling from the moment you walk in: dimly lit, table-clothed tables, little lights hanging around the room, and just a really friendly atmosphere. Everyone's laughing, chatting, and enjoying themselves not in a obnoxious way, but a neighborly way. As for the food, don't get me started. IT'S SOOO GOOOOOOOOD. It's so original first of all. All the restaurants nowadays seem like they're just trying to outdo each other's recipes, nothing is actually new. At least that's how I feel. From Texas Roadhouse to Saltgrass to Cheddars and Chilis, it really all feels the same. Burgers may be just a little different, but same food across the board for the most part. At Little Germany, even if you don't know what some of the items are, it's really good! I definitely recommend the potato pancakes for one, it's not what you expect but it's great! The chicken is served with this apple/cinammon side that is pretty unique too. I LOVED the spaghetti. I'm serious. Never in my life had I loved a food, but that was heaven. It was perfect in every way. Perfectly balanced. I also like that they don't try to rip you off your money.
