Food was good. Their fresh home cooked tortilla chips are always wonderful. The salsa has great flavor and spice. However, our waiter was not very pleasant to our table. I ordered an appetizer, Nachos al Carbon. (See attached photo). Firstly, they come with the option of 6 or 12. I was not offered a choice on the qty I would like. Another person in my party ordered the Tacos De Papa (a vegan dish with mushrooms). The waitress came initially came back to our table and asked how he would like the tacos cooked. We were confused and informed her the Tacos de Papa were mushrooms and vegan. She tells us the Tacos Al Carbon is beef. We corrected her to let her know the order was for Tacos de Papa and Nachos Al Carbon. She proceeded to say, "OK, how do you want your beef cooked?" I said I didn't order beef, Nachos Al Carbon should be default chicken as per the menu. If I wanted beef, it would be an upcharge. (Refer again to menu) I showed her the menu and let her know that is what it states on their menu. She then proceeds to tells me, "Carbon in Spanish means Beef. Just to let you know. So you know for next time." Well... I looked it up, no. Carbon in Spanish means charcoal. So not only was she incorrect about the Spanish, but the tone she took with me was very unpleasant and rude. We were just wanting to make sure she understood our order because she seemed to have mixed up menu items. Additionally, I didn't see Tacos Al Carbon on the menu, so her attitude towards our table was very unnecessary. After this minor "altercation" she became non-attentive towards our table.

I have been to this location before and was extremely satisfied with both food and service. Today only the food was good with the service of our attending waitress was both unprofessional and rude.

The fact that other tables around us were treated better than us, with a better attitude and being far more attentive makes me feel rather discouraged as I feel we were being discriminated against.

I won't be dinning here again in the immediate future as I don't feel welcomed.

EDIT: dropping a star due to lack of any response despite the fact they replied to my original post with a generic response, but after sending a message to the requested email/person, there have been no updates or further engagement. Just thought I would update this to let folks know if there are issues, it does not appear they take these situations as seriously as they want you to believe. My situation is not as serious of a case, however discrimination is no small matter. I urge the manager at this location to do a refresher training with staff about discrimination in general.

Update: I haven't been back since. I've since found other restaurants to dine at. I likely won't be back, at least not to this location. This will be my...

My family and I have come to this location for closer to fifteen-twenty years, and the food quality, service quality, and overall quality of Mi Cocina has always been top-notch. Recently, we've become regulars there because of an amazing waiter named Gene. He feels like family- always greets us with warm smiles and makes sure everything is nothing less than spectacular. We've had so many different waiters throughout the years, but Gene has been the best by-far. Aside from amazing waiters, the food is amazing. Everything is fresh, filling, and as stated previously, spectacular! Personally, I always get fajitas (chicken, beef, combo beef&chicken) and they're my favorite fajitas from any Mexican food restaurant I've ever been to. They're amazingly seasoned and made, that I'm always tempted to ask for more to take home because they reheat very well. I've also tried their quesadillas and tortilla soup, and both are very delicious, filling food options that are also very good for reheating if needbe. Mi Cocina also has an unforgettable queso (my family and I get yellow queso with ground beef) and there's a perfect ratio of queso to meat to seasoning that makes it spectacularly wonderful. Back to Gene (the amazing waiter). He has never messed up an order, always brings good conversation, and whenever he waits on me and my family, it feels like we're talking to a family member. Gene always makes sure to double-check everyone's orders, and remembers everything you tell him so he can talk about it next time you come in. As previously stated, even though I've seen countless waiters (in general, not just Mi Cocina), Gene has been my favorite and my family's favorite by-far. Gene makes everyone feel welcome and taken care of, and greets everyone with smiles and warmth. Gene works both the downstairs seating area and the bar, and if you ask hm, he'll tell you when he works which section so you can come visit again, which is most likely because Gene is probably the best waiter they've got. Mi Cocina also has a lunch menu (weekdays from opening 'til 4 PM), and a dinner menu. I've ordered from both, and I would recommend to anyone reading this to order whatever you feel sounds good, because everything is...

I visited your establishment today based off recommendations, I was visiting Ft Worth I placed a to go order with Gabriela I asked for everything on the side because I had a far drive.Gabriela seem to get bothered by that I hand her my payment in return she lays my change down on the counter while my hands are extended to receive my change in the manner I handed it to her. I said thank you ( no response back) I took a seat. Immediately after that an older woman (different race) comes in She brighten up and have a pleasant conversation with her even smiles, I watch her interact with a few people after me. She brings my order to me and says "here is your nachos" I "reply thank you" She walks off. Get into my car check my order the cheese was mixed with my nacho chips I call from the parking lot Gabriela H answer the phone with a friendly voice not realizing it's me The manger instantly ask me would I like them to fix it I said yes As I reach the counter Gabriela once again shows her dislike for what ever reason as the manager is re packaging my order Gabriela H takes the chips and angrily toss them in the trash. The Manger hands me my food ask is everything ok.I replied yes ma'am as Gabriela H is standing less than a arm length away She's still showing her discord for me as I ask the Manger is this Gabriela she replied yes. Gabriela H looked on as if she was inquiring why I was asking if that was her. Needles to say Gabriela H whatever your issue was with my ordering everything on the side baffles me I was respectful and Very polite from start to finish although I didn't receive the same treatment from you! I will not return to this location because clearly I'm not welcomed or you just don't like when guest order everything...

Mi Cocina’s Disappointing Espresso Martini If you’re heading to Mi Cocina with high hopes for a smooth, rich espresso martini, do yourself a favor and skip it entirely. What should be a bold, velvety cocktail with a kick ends up tasting more like watered-down coffee syrup with a splash of cheap vodka and a freshly squeezed lemon with pulps. The flavor profile is off from the first sip — lacking any real espresso depth, NO crema, or Foam and definitely no balance, barely the taste of coffee. It was not sweet, like they didn’t use coffee liqueur or even freshly brewed espresso. The alcohol definitely showed up, as all we tasted was vodka and lemon. This was the worst expresso martini I’ve ever tasted. To make matters worse, the texture is flat, thin, and oddly artificial. It’s as if they poured something premixed out of a bottle, gave it a half-hearted shake, and called it a day. No frothy top. Garnished with a lemon peel, but I think they squeezed lemon in the drink, almost tasted like an entire lemon was squeezed. Just… sad. In a city where quality espresso martinis are easy to find, Mi Cocina’s version is a glaring letdown. Stick to the margaritas, or something they can actually make. This cocktail doesn’t just miss the mark — it shouldn’t even be on the menu. What’s even worse is we called to ask if they knew how to make an expresso martini prior to heading there and was told yes. It was pretty darn awful. Bar tender needs to learn the cocktail recipe before stating something that was more of a chemistry experiment than an actual cocktail.

I haven't been here in over 15 years so thought I'd give it another shot. It was around 5-ish on a Saturday so we expected a wait but only had to wait a few minutes while they cleaned a table for us. Our server was nice, not very sociable but wasn't rude just pretty dry. I ordered the double barrel margarita and it was strong (that's a good thing for me). The chips were ok, the salsa had a kick to it but still very tomatoey, like ketchup. I ordered the poblano chicken enchiladas and my wife ordered beef fajitas. No charro beans on the menu, only refried. My enchiladas were ok at best. If it wasn't for the sauce over them they would be like sawdust, very dry. My wife's beef fajitas were kinda dry as well. We sat there and named off 4 or 5 places off the top of our head that had better fajitas. The ambience here is amazing, Latin music very nice deco, upscale feel but the food does not match the vibe. The menu wasn't too impressive either. We didn't spend too much so I can't say it was a rip-off but I wasnt impressed at all. Both of us ate and a $13 margarita came out to mid $50 range. I probably wouldn't come back for the food unless it was a large social gathering. I can't say I had a bad experience but didn't think much of this place.
