I usually go to a Thai place on the other end of Hulen which I love but I was kind of in a hurry and couldn't make it over there so I decided to stop in. The food was okay, spice level was good, and flavor was a little bland. I would be okay coming back here for the food if it weren't for the rude guy at the counter with the long blonde hair and the server that handed me the menu. A lady sitting at a table had a dish that looked delicious so I asked the waitress(the ladies waitress) what it was so I could order it and she told be just ask the guy at the counter. So I just decided to look at the menu to figure it out myself. When I finally decried what I wanted to order I go to the counter and the blonde is looking down at something which I get, I've worked retail so I waited patiently for him to look up and acknowledge me. Finally he looks up and gives me a crazy look like are you gonna say something. I smile and he looks back down. Now I'm really upset he looks back up again and says are you gonna order while moving his neck around (full of attitude). I looked at him and said you are not very nice are you and he just goes well I was just waiting on you to tell me what you wanted. That's not how it works, acknowledge your customers and act like you want to be at work even if you don't. It even looked like the managers or maybe the owners were sitting at the end of the desk having what seemed to be a funny conversation just steps from where we were but they paid no attention to how rude everyone had been to me since I walked in. Thai food is my favorite and this was a horrible experience I didn't even want the food I ordered any more but since I had already paid and knew it would be a hassle to get a refund I kept it. I will stick to thailicious as they are always very nice and go out of their way to make sure...
Read moreFirst of all, the food is great and is what have made me ignore the suttle signs of predjudice! But today was the day that it was too much. Me and my coworkers sat down and was waiting for our water at 1:00 pm. I know because we had a meeting and I was asked what time was it. A man sat down a few mintues later and said he wanted two teas and that he was in a hurry. The waitress who I found out later was the owner brought us back our water. In five minutes or less the man next to us had his salad in ten minutes another table was there after the man sitting next to us and they had their drinks and salad. I went to who was our waitress and asked what happened and she said Im sorry I'm getting it. I said you are getting what? She said your salad. I sat down and started telling my coworkers what she said when a waiter came to the table looked at us like we had done something to him pick up our bowls and when he picked up my bowl my fork fell on the table, he said nothing and walked away. Now I said I'm ready to go. One of my cowkers ask do we pay for the salad so I saw another waiter and started to tell him my delima when the owner come up said you don't need to tell him anything, he's just a waiter, I'm the owner and whats wrong. Now I would like to point out this is the same lady that has been serving us and everyone that had came after us was eating and enjoying themselves. As I talked I looked in her eyes and it was as if she was irritated with me! I said thats it and left. By this time she had just sat the plates on the table but I was so angry I left the good food. If you are black I would not recommend this place. And I have never placed a statement like this about no other restaurant! This was my fourth time going and each time I went through something similar just not as severe. It's...
Read moreho what they say is right, you know, about the run down furniture. the bathroom is well kept if not a little stuffy. but in my opinion that speaks to the quality of the food.
i have not had such good Thai food since i lived in Hawaii, where asian foods go neck-and-neck and only the best survive. The faces I made the first time I tried the pad see ew probably gave onlookers the impression that I was using recreational drugs (I was not, the food is just that good) and having the best trip of my life.
Everybody and their tutu wants to sell pad see ew because it does well, but it's harder than it looks you know. It's so easy to overcook the broccoli and undercook the meat, or drown it in sauce. I say with pride and adoration that the beef in my dish was perfectly cooked and chewable (a commodity that, in my experience, nearby competitors are not able to provide).
A couple tables are wobbly, and patrons will shove various objects (pamphlets, packets of Sweet N' Low) under a table leg to keep it sturdy. The ice is chewable, if you care about that sort of thing, and the servers are just lovely. As a germaphobe I'm cautious about the containers they serve the sticky rice in, since they look hard to wash, but there's always a plastic lining on the inside, so I'm not very worried at all.
I don't think I properly emphasized enough how good the food is. Your toes will curl. Your face will move muscles you didn't know your face had. Your eyes will squeeze shut, and if you're lucky, you'll be able to taste how good it is even through the heat of it being freshly made. Excellent stuff.
Every time I go, I pray thanking God for the bearded millennial cashier at Trader Joe's that recommended this place to...
