We haven't been to Olive Garden Italian Restaurant in a very long time so this trip was well worth it, especially because of our waiter, Nabil. Aside from great service, their food was absolutely great and filling.
We ordered Lasagna Fritta, Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara, Shrimp Scampi, and Grilled Chicken Margherita.
Let's start with the best appetizer ever -- the Lasagna Fritta. It is a fried lasagna, breaded with parmesan, and topped with parmesan cheese, meat sauce, and creamy alfredo. When it first hit the table, it smelled so delicious -- it smelled just like pizza rolls, and pizza rolls are one of my favorites. However, if you don't like pizza rolls, don't worry! You should still try it because there were others who don't like pizza rolls but absolutely love the Lasagna Fritta. It's crunchy, cheesy, and had the perfect amount of sauce on and beneath it. I highly recommend trying this one out!
The Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara is a dish of spaghetti, tossed with sautéed seasoned chicken, shrimp, creamy sauce, bacon, and roasted red peppers. The sautéed seasoned chicken went extremely well with the spaghetti and creamy sauce, and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. If you love chicken and shrimp but can't pick what you like more, try out their Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara. The plate has plentiful, so you'll have lots of leftovers to take home for your next meal!
One of our least favorite dishes was the Shrimp Scampi. It consists of angel hair with shrimp sautéed in garlic sauce and tossed with asparagus and tomatoes. The shrimp was not as flavorful as the shrimp in the Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara, and the angel hair tasted a bit soggy -- everything tasted a bit mushy and too much.
The Grilled Chicken Margherita is a meal you would have if you were on a keto diet -- it doesn't have a lot of carbs yet it's filled with protein. It's a dish with grilled chicken breasts topped with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, basil pesto, and lemon garlic sauce, with a side of parmesan garlic broccoli. The Grilled Chicken Margherita is a good dish if you're eating clean. The chicken isn't drying, and the plate consists of a lot of flavors.
As our additions, we had their Famous House Salad, Chicken & Gnocchi Soup, and Zuppa Toscana Soup. All tasted great!
Aside from their delicious food, their customer service was top-notch. Our server, Nabil, went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. He made sure we had our refills when we needed them (and we didn't have to ask) and made sure everything was delicious. He even recommended his favorite soup (the Chicken & Gnocchi Soup) which was definitely delicious -- he was there to ensure we were taken care of.
Overall, I would definitely eat here again, primarily because it's practically two meals for the price of one. To make it worth it, you fill yourself with soup/salad and breadsticks. Eat what you can of the pasta and take home the rest -- ask for extra breadsticks to take home and possibly the rest of your soup (unsure if you can do the latter because I...
Read moreI figured this out all on my own. Customer service its at a new low level of standard. Great! We dined in at the olive garden at southwest loop 820 on Oct 27th around 4. Here's the situation. First an foremost the waitress we had was in her 60s long brown pony tail this lady did a great job and considering low staff. She worked her butt off. She deserves a bonus. When my friend an I walked in, please look at this from a customer service , rude perspective. At the hostess podium, another waitress who had mild brn/blonde ponytail was writing out her ticket for a customer she had her back to us (interesting place to make out your ticket) also was a African american woman and young man blk curly hair an another young man all standing there. Two young men were talking and a lady was standing there. Now after we stood there going on 3 min. Note- no other customers were waiting just myself and friend. What bothers me about this whole scenario is and this is not the only place I've seen this done. They were talking an looking down on podium and I am assuming this but the 3 were looking at the seating map which made me laugh because there were not many people in there.. Not one person acknowledged Us the whole 3 to 4 min. But more importantly one of the waiters was able to check his text out on his phone. Wow thank God he was able to read that text. The African American lady said sorry. And I'm thinking why your standing there ignoring us an yet not doing anything about it sorry..DOESNT CUT IT! What bothered me, every time I looked around the staff was walking they were reading their phones . So where does that leave us. It leaves with,,, there was not enough help and I know everyone is having trouble with this. Our waitress was phenomenal an yes we had to wait to but she busted her butt an I can tell when u do not have enough help Then go to management, my philosophy is when your short of help then the manager needs to go out an pic up dishes or clean and maybe he did. When you get staff that walks around with there phones in Their hand an thinks it's ok to do this. Hmmmm. Because I know there couldn't be anything else to do. Customer service has sunk to a "sorry but I'm doing it any way. U can wait, my phone texts are more important than giving you respectful customer service"" you see this everywhere. We just accept it. Olive garden b proud you are in the general category of whatever Standard of customer service. I have to check my phone before I deal with you. I'm better and my time is more important. You may not think that but your actions are...
Read moreThe office that I work at ordered food from this place today. I had the honor of picking the food up and as the servers were bring out the food I stepped out of my car to kindly assist them. I was going to put the food in my truck but I noticed that it was dirty so I told them I would just put the food in the front seat of my truck. As I am closing the door to my truck one of the servers clearly gets angry. I walk around to the passenger side of my car and she tells the other servers to place the food that my office just paid for on the ground because they were busy in the restaurant. As if this restaurant does not offer curbside pickup as well. As if the customers inside the restaurant is way more or not equal to the curbside paying customers. As if curbside pickup PAYING customers do not deserve the same respect as a human being inside of the restaurant. Do you know how UNPROFESSIONAL, unhinged, nasty, unsanitary, disgusting, trifling it is to place someone food on the ground. I felt like an animal and they were telling me to go fetch my food. The manager came out we discussed the issue and I asked her to give me the servers name and her exact words to me was (I can’t give you her name). And why not because if I was sitting down in the restaurant she was automatically going to introduce herself to me. So once again do curbside pickup PAYING customers not get the same service as the customers inside the restaurant. How horrible and inhumane of an individual do you have to be to place someone’s food on the ground. I will indeed be sending this photo to the FDA, the state or anyone I feel I need to forward it to. This was ridiculous and a horrible horrible experience. Let me just add the manager was nice enough to give our office a credit but that is not enough!! You do not EVER place someone’s food on the ground. Especially if I was right there willing the help place the food In the car! If it was too much for them to handle they NEED TO...
