Very americanized mexican food-
Whenever I go to the restaurant it is always busy. The service is good. The crowd is mostly older/eldery white people. I have heard they have good margaritas but I don't drink alcohol so wouldn't know. The building is always very clean inside. A lot of parking and multiple entrances.
But all of that is not why I eat at Mexican resturants. It's all about the food and how it tastes. At mexican restaurant's I keep it simple and always order the super quesadilla, chimichanga, or tacos. I'm not picky so get everything on it. Spicy or mild doesn't matter.
The last time I ate at las caz I was in the banquet room with a big party. I ordered my kid's bean and cheese burrito's. I got a super quesadilla with shredded beef. From previous visits I've tasted the horchata (rice milk with spices) and knew it was a cheap powdered version so I just ordered a sprite.
Got the food in a timely fashion considering the size of the group. They forgot one of my kids burrito's. It was no big deal because she ate half of her sisters and they made the other one to go for us. I got my quesadilla and it looked good even though it didn't have a "homemade" tortilla. The shredded beef was horrible. It tasted like dog food. I gave my girlfriend a bite like it was good just to see her reaction.
By far the worst mexican food I have eaten. For some reason I revisit once or twice a year hoping for a change of menu, style, cooks, or owners. maybe some of those have changed but the food always tastes the same. Very bland. Is anything made in house from scratch? Store bought tortillas, powdered horchata, chips...?
I've ate at too many Mexican restaurant's to count as it is my favorite food. Almost all of them in humboldt, Santa Rosa, A dozen or so in the bay area, a few in L.A./ San Diego and even one in Hawaii.
I don't know if the owner is stubborn and thinks the quality is up to par with even the other mexican restaurants in town, but it's not. It could also be bad cooks. Either way they have nice building and A lot of staff so they must be doing something right. For me, I just wished they did things a little different so I could add them into the...
Read moreBoth Norma Brenda and Corrin have always treated us like family. I've been coming here for 20 years, I have known Norma since I started a way back. Her mother actually shared the ground beef recipe with us years ago while she was still here working, and that's the best ground beef taco meat in this whole county. Corrin has been our waitress here for almost 10 years And Brenda for some time as well. Neither has never let us down, not ever. I do a small super nachos with ground beef, and a quesadilla. that quesadilla though. it's delicious. they put Chile Rellano sauce and green onions inside, and crisp it on the flat grill. yummy! Try the Fish tacos, or the chicken and sliced potatoes. Chile Rellano, or Carne Asada plate, all are yummy. My goto drink is the shakey shakey margarita, it's no longer on the menu but you can still ask for it. without these two people, the hard work of the kitchen, and the staff our dining experience would be less in and around fortuna. Thank you Las...

We ended up having having margaritas and beer and individual dinners that were delicious just a very nice intimate little party and it worked out to be fabulous they worked with us in every way possible Norma and Lili our waitress bartender was amazing we had a really good time I would definitely recommend this place for small Gatherings, dinner out or just...
