It was my first time visiting Oscar's after hearing good things from multiple people. I did the drive thru as I didn't have too much time to go in and sit down. Being a custard place, they have a surprisingly large food menu to go with it. A friend of mine recommended I try their sloppy joes as they are a favorite among a lot of patrons. However, being the creature of habit that I am, I decided to go with a good ol' bacon cheeseburger and a side of cheese fries. In my opinion, you can tell a lot based on a restaurant's burger and fries.
The bacon cheeseburger was honestly nothing to write home about. I'd give it a 4/10. The bacon was the best part about it, thick and crispy with good flavor. The burger patty honestly tasted like it was thawed and then steamed. Very lackluster in flavor and the texture was just...different? I still ate it though; the bacon and condiments came to the rescue at least.
Cheese fries were a big let down. I'd rate them a 3/10. The fries are very similar in thickness to Kopps or McDonalds but they were not crispy and needed salt. The cheese sauce was actually really sad and I didn't even finish it. It was very much a gelatinous cheese from a can (think high school cafe cheese).
I might still give them another shot for their sloppy joes in the future and probably their custard, but based on what I had thus far is a reflection of my rating to them. Maybe it will change in the...
Read moreNever been to Oscars before, so I walked inside the store to speak to someone face to face and take my time with the menu. 5pm and no other customers were in there- just one person in the drive through. The VERY first thing I told the cashier was "I've never been here before" and asked what he recommended. He said they are known for their burgers and fresh ingredients. I said cool, what is in the Oscar burger? (even though it's written up on the menu, I wanted to confirm what all comes on it). He said pickles, onion, and ketchup/mustard. I said great, can I please have that with bacon.
I get home and open my burger to see one patty and a piece of bacon, nothing else.... I called immediately to ask why I just paid $6 for 2 plain pieces of bread, especially after I confirmed with the guy what all comes on it? Person on the phone said I needed to ask for "the works" and the employee must have just rang it up wrong. I guess both of us had never been there before because a plain burger (with an upcharge for bacon!) is crazyyy.
Fries were the best fries I've had to be honest. Service was fast. Workers are probably just kids. I guess these days no matter what you do to make sure the order is right, you still need to peel open your burger before...
Read more1st time experience. The customer service was good, all employees appeared to busy the whole time we were dinning. The place was very very clean and the food was good.
The sandwhich of the month was philly steak. I had that and it was very tasty. My daughter had a BLT sandwhich, she ate it up so fast that I didnt hv time to take a pic of it. Lol. The malts were a lot thinner than I expected but they do have an extra thick option for the malts which I did not pick. Lots of flavors to chose from for the malts. The Onion rings were sooooo good, had one of my daughters.
There is a outdoor patio area. There are booster seats available. There are large tv screens on the wall that are silent with caption. There is a drive thru service.
There are 3 negatives regarding this restaurant. Negative#1 is that the ketchup comes only in packets, and u hv to open them and squeeze them out into a small container. Negative#2 is that, there are no soda fountains on the floor. So if u get one drink, one drink is all u can have. No refills. Negative#3 is u have to pay attention to the front for ur number to be called, they do not bring the food 2 ur table. I guess I hv been spoiled by Culver's Restaurant.
U can see the...
