Very disappointed in our experience there. We went for an impromptu date night and decided to try this place for the first time. We were seated at our table for about 10 minutes before the waitress came over to tell us she'd be right with us. She came back about 5 minutes later to take our drink order and seemed annoyed that we didn't know what we wanted for food yet. another 5-10 minutes before she came back to take our food order (we still hadn't gotten the drinks.) We ordered the Bavarian pretzel appetizer with the upcharge for some charcuterie with it. I ordered the Bomb Burger for my entree and she got the mushroom swiss burger. I also asked her to leave the draft list as I would probably order another drink. We received our drinks shortly after that and they were very good. After what seemed like a very long time, our entrees arrived. I decided not to point out the fact that we hadn't gotten our appetizer yet and would just make sure it wasn't on the check at the end of the meal. The waitress asked if we needed anything and I asked for some ketchup. I'm still waiting for that ketchup. 10 minutes after our entrees arrived, our appetizer showed up. 🤦🏻‍♂️ The waitress came over and apologized for the mix up. Cool. That was the last time she came over to our table until we flagged her down to ask for a box for the post dinner appetizer and our check. It was very frustrating watching her stop at literally every other table in the section multiple times, but not to come back to us once. I'll admit the food was good. The burgers were cooked as requested (my wife likes them still mooing). We haven't tried the appetizer yet and am I still don't know if they have good ketchup. I'd probably give this place one more shot because the food was good, but the service we received...
Read moreI was looking forward to trying The Raillery in Franklin, especially given its prominent location where the British Beer Company used to be—a spot that holds some nostalgia for many locals, myself included. With the new branding and atmosphere, I had hoped for a fresh, elevated dining experience. Unfortunately, based on my recent takeout order, the food didn’t quite live up to the expectations.
I ordered the fish Reuben, which sounded like a creative twist on a classic sandwich. However, the execution left a lot to be desired. The fish was overcooked to the point of dryness, and the bread was tough and overly crisp—bordering on hard. Flavor-wise, it just didn’t come together in a satisfying way. It felt like a missed opportunity.
To accompany it, I tried the sliders and French fries. The sliders were unevenly cooked, with one noticeably burnt on the bottom, and the others not much better. The fries were also overcooked—tough, dry, and lacking the crispness or seasoning that would make them worth finishing. Altogether, the meal felt more like a rushed bar menu than a thoughtfully crafted takeout experience.
This visit unfortunately reminded me a lot of my experience with The Raillery’s sister restaurant, The Gavel in Wrentham, where the food similarly lacked consistency and polish. Both locations seem to have strong concepts and appealing menus on paper, but the execution in the kitchen hasn’t matched up.
I always want to support local restaurants and hope this feedback helps prompt some reflection and improvements. With such a prime location and potential, The Raillery could really shine if more attention were given to preparation quality and overall consistency. Id most likely skip this place and the Gavel, its just hit or miss with these two...
Read moreThis is so sad and disappointing. I've eaten there a few times and love doing reviews. I haven't gotten to my previous review that I wanted to a couple of weeks ago. Long story short what happened last night was ridiculous and I will never go back nor will anybody that we were with. We waited over an hour not to be seated. I am disabled when I walked in I almost fell and let them know that it was wet at the door and there mat needed to come forward so that people don't sleep. How come the front end people aren't trained to watch for this? Don't they realize the liability for the company?
The hostess told us 10 to 20 minutes and we did expect 20min. But after 40 minutes I was annoyed and I asked what was going on. Then she said we're working on it and an additional amount of time passed, now over an hour we made a decision enough was enough and left. The management clearly poor if they do not train their people accordingly - (1) dangerous entry when it was wet from rain and (2) way off for waiting time! Sadly, to have my group, which I insisted to trust this restaurant (again) that night was embarrassing for me. In the past I had fish tacos and they had great service. On a different occasion, several of my friends have had VERY bad service and VERY bad food because a fundraising golf tournament had them has the caterers.
The photos are from one of my times a couple of weeks ago and I would not recommend going at this point. Sad because it had a lot of potential.
