Sunset Sushi & Thai — Restaurant in Franklin

ROACHES!!!!! First time at Sunset Restaurant. Decided to check this place out from a local Vlogger that I follow. She and her husband spoke highly of this restaurant. During the course of eating my dinner, a roach crawls across my table and up the wall. I quickly told the waitress. She acted unfazed and notified Tony, Sushi Chef. Tony proceeds to grab a napkin and walks back to my table. He apologizes and comps the meal. As I was walking out, I heard the same waitress say to Tony, “why are they spraying for roaches in the morning? They used to spray at night. You know the roaches will come out if they spray in the morning.” I walked out in disbelief of her comment. She was very unprofessional about the entire incident. Also, upon initially entering the restaurant, she came across short and rude. Not the kind of waitress I would want representing my business. I will never go back. This local establishment is a no-brainer when our family of four starts that endless game of "where do you want to go? I don't know, where do you?" Good combination of Japanese and Thai favorites. My go-to choice is the Chirashi which is consistently fresh and generously portioned.

For those for whom raw fish is not particularly appealing (like my wife and both of my daughters), the cooked entrees are equally well-received. The chicken fried rice, volcano roll, and massaman curry are all Yu family approved.

By the way, if you're looking for one of those "fru-fru" high society asian fusion places, this is not it. The light fixtures are in serious need of updating to the point it might be deemed dim (I prefer to use the term intimate). If you're there for the food though, this place is worth a visit.

Food was pretty decent. Only problem is that my food came out about 15 minutes before everyone else's and I finished it before the rest of the table got theirs, except for my girlfriend's mom who was sitting across from me who picked off of all our plates and waited about another 15 minutes after finishing all of our food before telling the serve she didn't want hers anymore, to which she told us it was already made. So we waiting another 5 minutes before going up to the front to tell them we were all full and didn't want the last roll, and she turned around to tell the cook to stop making it.
