Stopped by this location for a pit stop during a 11 hour road trip and was definitely impressed. We saw that they offered Peruvian food, had good ratings, and that was enough for me to check them out. Will definitely visit this restaurant chain whenever I'm visiting or passing by Maryland again.
My wife and I tried 2 different specials, I got the Ultimate 3 Meat Combo with Carne Asada, Beef Skewer, and a Lamb Chop, with a side of Arroz Chaufa and Fried Plantains. While my wife got the Churrasco De Pollo with Mixed Vegetables and a House Salad. It took some time to get our orders since they needed to cook some of the meat, but the food was delicious and filling when it came. The meats were seasoned well, however I did find the carne asada a bit tougher, and the lamb chop to be a bit small. I specifically enjoyed the arroz chaufa and the fried plantains. The dressing for the House salad comes with a good kick of spice for those with a spice tolerance. Also we did find the pico de gallo that comes with the Churrasco De Pillo to be such a small serving, hope they gave a little bit more since it went well with the combo. Food 4/5
The staff seem to be mostly of Hispanic / Latino decent, which is great! They we're mostly friendly and communicative of the wait times, even if it took longer than what they communicated. They also brought the food to our table which was a plus. Service: 4.5/5
The place is vibrant with Latin music playing in the background and the aromas hitting your senses. Also seeing the busy kitchen and grill in the background adds to the atmosphere. Dining area seems to be clean and well-maintained, as well as the restrooms....
Read moreThis was my first time visiting Sardis restaurant. I am from Frederick and only have tasted the food at a cookout because someone brought it there many years ago. The restaurant itself seems more like a quick carry out spot but does have ample seating for groups or families. It seemed cleaned and well kept. I took my dad here last night for dinner, but we ended up getting it to go. I waited for about 10 minutes before I could order. Finally, a gentleman from the back came up to asaiat me. There was another person ahead of me being helped, but it was taking long with the other worker. I got a half chicken with the roasted Brussel sprouts and carrots and fried rice. I chose the Verde and mambo sauce for the sauces. I also ordered my dad the chocolate mousse cake, and I got the southern banana pudding. I did like the fact that they offer a variety of sides, which was a nice switch up from other Peruvian places I have visited, and they offer other types of food. When I got home to try everything, I was impressed. The chicken was flavorful and packed a punch of goodness. The Brussel sprouts and carrots were my favorite, and fried rice was only okay. I would try the beans and rice on my next trip. The banana pudding was delicious. Wasn't impressed for their version of mambo sauce. The Verde was delicious. I would visit again and would recommend...
Read moreAlthough we have liked Sardi's chicken very much in the past, after years of being customers, we will no longer be buying anything from this restaurant chain. These are the reasons: (1) the chicken size is very small (2) the sides are not that great (e.g., yuca is hard as rock, tasteless vegetables, plantain is not soft as it should be, subpar coleslaw) (3) their little desserts are barely ok and overpriced (4) sometimes the food is so salty that it has been hard to eat it
Bottom line: not a good value. You pay $24 for a whole chicken with two sides. This means that you are probably paying about $18 for a tiny rotisserie chicken ... At Trader Joe's they charge $10. At Wegmans, they charge $10 for organic chicken and $5 for non-organic. Granted, these places do not provide the Peruvian marinated birds, but the size is quite larger and the price is quite smaller. For those watching their budget, it is a much better value.
Two stars instead of one--what I was going to give originally--only because of the chicken taste. However, no more Sardi's for us. Not...
