Charlie G's — Restaurant in Fredericksburg

Quite possibly the worst dining experience in our married life. We walked in, realized two things right off. The non-smoking restaurant smelled like the staff was smoking in the back. We sat down and and chatted with the waitress. We.started with diet coke.and a lemonade. 5 minutes later she came back and said they had no lemonade. We ordered the special and the boiled shrimp. The waitress said it came with the red potatoes. We sat there for over 15 minutes and then she came out, we thought she was bringing the food, but no, she was coming out to tell us there was no shrimp ( mind you this is a daily special in two days). Wow, we regrouped, shocked, and realized once again, this is probably the reason we were the only two people in the restaurant! My wife orderered the fish tacos and we waited another 10 minutes for the meals to come out. Fish tacos with no cole slaw?, lettuce? No flavor? Just wow. House made chips? Cold, tasteless, no salt, didnt eat any. Chciken sandwich? Flavorless batter, overcooked and the pickles tasted like dishsoap. All in all, i wouldnt recommend this place, not once, not ever. Did i say it smelled like a smokers'...

Took a chance and decided to finally try this place out. First impression coming thru the door was the smell of smoke done know if they smoke in this place but you can smell it. Overall pretty clean looking place. Our server was wonderful very polite and engaging. The prices on the menu were somewhat average and to too high. The food on the other hand was average nothing really note worthy. I had the New York strip my lady went with the Rib Eye. The cook did manage to cook our steaks to perfection at medium well. They were tender yet didn’t yield much flavor. The sides were had were green beans baked brand and rice pilaf. The green beans and baked beans seemed to be right out the can. The rice pilaf was decent. We also had the fried shrimp which were very good the attempt made on the bang sauce was way off it gave the taste of pure French dressing still wasn’t to bad tho. Went here first time with my mother for lunch, It was a good lunch special deal but I went with shrimp tacos and one to go for my wife. My mom ordered the grilled chicken Caesar wrap. My mom was not happy it had very little dressing and the chicken tasted burnt.
