I have been coming to Metro in Fredericksburg, VA since it has been open it was great at first but has gone down hill fast especially since covid. They used to open at 7 which was great and most diners do open at 7. After covid it opened at 8 and the reason I was told the time changed was because the workers couldn't get there on time. Then Cliff told us that they were to open at 745 which has never been happening consistently mainly because of Chris the host because he only gets there around 745 goes and gets his drink and then in the back talking while customers are waiting outside. Have spoken to Matt about this and nothing ever changes. Also have a great waiter there named Nathan who has also been there since the beginning and Paul was trying to take him off of opening over jealous waitresses and the fact that Paul has a certain stereotype of people that he likes. In my opinion Debbie and Nathan are the two best there. The other complaint is the ceiling has been sweating and leaking for years now and nothing done about it because supposedly don't have the money. I think it's more like they don't want to spend the money. I am sure they got money from the PPE program. Free money that they don't have to pay back. 26,000 per employee. My husband and I spend appx 4,000.00 or more at this place a year and this is what we get. Not coming back anymore and going to give bad reference to everyone we know. Place is a joke and needs to be shut down. Also was in there this morning and asked if someone was going to unlock the door and waitress Bethany yelled give us a minute rudely. Also they don't seem to like the workers who comes in on time and never calls out like Nathan and workers who are fast and can run the entire place by themselves which is Debbie but instead likes the ones who call out due to partying the night before or comes in late...
Read moreWe was super excited to come here. Heard great things from others. Wait time was about 30min, which is fine- I’ve been to a few restaurants in my life. Once we arrived inside that’s when everything went down hill. We waited an additional 45 min for our food, family of 4. We sat there and watched EVERYONE around us get their food. I’ve experienced delays in my life, but come on. We have 2 kids and you couldn’t get their food out first, simple silver dollar pancakes with 8 line cooks back in the kitchen. Ridiculous. No table touches from our server, I had to get up and ask for an update. Manager spoke with us and assured our food will be arriving shortly. I expressed my concerns saying all that matters is our kids food come out before ours. 10min later, we see others who came in 30 min after we sat down get their food before us. Parties of 6, 4, and 1. I’ve worked hospitality before and understand slow downs, multiple tables, but no updates and being completely ignored with 2 hangry kids. Enough is enough. Please do better as an establishment. When a family sits down, serve the kids FIRST. The lack of common sense baffles me. No table touches, no updates, no empathy whatsoever. Be personable with your customer interactions. Understand and LISTEN to their concerns. Do better, simply enough. This was our first dining experience and I will tell you this, we won’t be back. I hope upper management sees this and train their employees better. Not sure if this was a race thing- and I hope NOT. But this was ridiculous. Food never arrived and we just left. Can find better service at a fast food spot. Metro Diner truly does not deserve a 1 star, this is me being gracious. It’s easier to PREPARE than to REPAIR! A customer shouldn’t have to coach an establishment...
Read moreI am new to the area, and so far haven’t been impressed by the restaurants that I have tried in the area. I don’t eat breakfast often, and am really picky when it comes to breakfast. Every once in a while I really want a good breakfast. I am not a fan of IHOP or Denny’s at all. I saw the reviews for this place and decided to try it, but expected average food. I was beyond pleasantly surprised when I received my food. It arrived really hot and fresh via DoorDash. I ordered the Bissell breakfast with cinnamon roll pancakes, and the cheesy grits. It is extremely hard to find food that is seasoned right. Everything was amazingly seasoned. The sausage, and eggs were perfectly cooked, and the pancakes were fluffy and tasted delicious. The cinnamon and toppings really elevated plain pancakes. The grits had amazing flavor, but they arrived kind of dry and were extremely course and thick. This might be how grits are supposed to be made. I’ve only had them a hand full of times, and they were almost like a sausage gravy consistency. I added butter and extra cheese and heated them up, and they were amazing. I’m used to basically seasoned potatoes when it comes to home fries, theirs are like small potato pieces that are fried. They looked burnt, but after trying them they definitely weren’t, it’s just how you have to cook them. They were good. The strawberry butter was incredible! I wish I could buy this by the tub. This sounds so horrible but I could literally eat it by itself. They placed a separate bag in my order with utensils, and plenty of condiments, which I really appreciate. I can’t eat without condiments. This place is breakfast heaven, and I will definitely be back to try...
