Mainly what you need to know: -It's $15 a person for a day pass(which means you can leave and come back any time until they close) -They sell drinks and good food -Service is fantastic -You can rent their party room, which gets you a personal room in the back with a large table and plenty of chairs, and then you are permitted to bring food in from outside the establishment (check website for details) -Best selection of arcade classics -Many unique features -It's a fantastic experience, and if you live close and loved it as much as I know you will, they offer different membership plans(monthly/yearly or lifetime)
It was awesome! Possibly the best retro arcade I've been to(I'd say it was hands-down the best, but I feel more at home with the one nearest where I live)! They are very official, which comes with some perks. The entrance is through their small video store, where you can rent retro VHS tapes like you would at a blockbuster. The next room is completely built to be styled like a classic tv room, complete with an entertainment system(not sure what you'd call that, a tv stand but with drawers and cabinets) featuring an old-styled tv, classic Nintendo, Atari, VHS player, etc. The room also has a couch, turntable to accompany the massive wall of records to choose from, plenty of games for the consoles, a Rock'em Sock'em robots set, and just the right atmosphere it had that orange-ish lighting that just makes everything look retro and makes you feel that way too. The next area up is the large arcade. They have MANY of the most popular titles and their sequels. It's a great place to discover the classics everyone is raving about. There are some pinball machines, fighter games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat(among others), more unique games like Tron and Battlezone, racer games like Pole Position, and so many great classics from Asteroids and Frogger to Joust and Defender. They even have a section in the center of the arcade with 3 large games that can have 4 players in at a time. Even better, the games aren't the only thing that make it feel like a real arcade. There are plenty of neon lights and decorations, they serve drinks and snacks, parked outside they have a food truck and menus spread throughout the joint, and your eyes will be burning and watering in no time- just like a real arcade!
Above all, the service is fantastic. There's always someone serving drinks, serving food, at the video store counter, or just there to help you. We needed help figuring out how to work their tv to play a Nintendo game, and they were very helpful and happy to help.
Try to beat my high scores ;) P.s. oops, i forgot to take my pictures well enough to say which high scores were for which...
Read moreWe were visiting friends in the area who asked if we'd like to go to a party with them to this location. We walked into the building and were immediately transported back in time to our childhood! The lobby and 80's rec room had all the 80's memorabilia that ever existed. From Laser Discs, to old Macintosh computers, Atari cartridges, VHS tapes and players, a wood paneled entertainment center with a cathode television set hooked up to an Atari, a Nintendo, a Super Nintendo, and a Sega Master system. Along with almost any game you could ever want including our personal favorite, Duck Hunt, and the laser gun needed to play also.
Behind that was the actual arcade with older and newer pinball machines, older standup arcade games such as Tapper, Paperboy, PacMan, Galaga, Defender, and Donkey Kong just to name a few. THere were newer cabinet games as well, the four player Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mortal Kombat, The Simpsons, and more...
There were two Skeeball machines, but those were difficult to get on as they were favorites of some of the younger patrons in attendance that evening.
$15 to get in the door, then it's unlimited playing. No cards, tokens, or coins needed! There is a bar where you can run a tab and beverage holders on most of the machines, or a nearby table to set your drink down while you bomb the universe! There are food trucks that you can get a burger or fries from by ordering at the bar. There was also some interesting entertainment while we were there with a Goth band playing music in front of a projector screen showing the classic, silent movie, Nosferatu.
This was the best time I've had in a long time! I looked at my wife and said, "I want to have my birthday here". We will...
Read moreGenerally a pretty okay arcade place, but there is some stuff I should let you know.
1: My friend, who looks only 18, was approached by a middle aged man looking for a one night stand. While thankfully nothing bad came from it, the fact that it happened is worrying to me, considering there is a number of (but not a majority of) younger kids in this establishment.
2: To add onto the first worry, I did not see many employees around monitoring the place - not one walking around. I would recommend, if you bring your kids here, to keep them close and keep an eye on them.
3: They charge for water. Water is NOT free here. Sodas, beers, etc I can get behind charging - but NOT water.
Those were the only real complaints I had.
General atmosphere: Nice! One section had a more homey feel that was nice on the eyes, and the other side had all the arcade atmosphere. It can be overstimulating on the ears however, but they also have a back area that is less loud. Be mindful to not wear too many layers though... I was wearing only a light bodysuit and a breezy top but I was sweaty the entire time.
Ratings for those easily overstimulated: Sight: 4/5, multiple places to go that are generally calmer, but main arcade is very bright Hearing 2.5/5, loud in most areas, even the bathroom. Smell: 5/5, only mild food smells, no weird chemical smells to be found. Touch: 5/5, no places were sticky, place is well cleaned.
Overall, I probably won't go to this place again. Unless they had Space Invaders or...
