I’m sad to leave this review, as Olga’s is usually good and my family has come to like it. However, when I went to pick up my food tonight, I had a very unpleasant experience. When I walked in, there was an employee at the front counter with her back to the door on her phone. Without turning around, she immediately walked into the kitchen area and started acting very busy (even though it was 9PM). There was a manager in the kitchen area also with her back to me, and another employee sitting in the dining room chatting with two customers. I stood there for about 5-8 minutes, all while glancing at my food which was in a bag with my name on it two feet away from me. It seemed odd that there were three employees in the room with me, and yet none of them had so much as acknowledged me. I wondered if they were ignoring me on purpose, so I cleared my throat rather loudly. The manager suddenly turned and made brief eye contact with me, before turning back around without speaking and continuing to sip her drink. Another 5 minutes passed. Finally, the manager came up to assist me and I expressed to her that it would be nice to at least acknowledge customers if you are busy, especially if you make eye contact with them. She immediately lied and said that she didn’t see me, which I couldn’t help but to laugh at. She then made the employee in the dining room come cash me out, specifically instructing her to log in under her own account before doing so. I wonder if the manager did this so that her name wouldn’t appear on the receipt and I wouldn’t be able to include it in this review. I’m sad to say that I was also very disappointed when I got home and inspected the food. The brussels sprouts appetizer was a very small portion and considerably less than I have received before. I ordered a salad with extra tomatoes, but it came with none. What’s funny is that the order note which reads “XT TOMATOES” is stuck right onto the salad box. Guess they didn’t read it? Also, the “side snackers” that comes with a meal is a pitiful portion size— 5 snacker chips only. In the past when I have come here, the portion sizes were better and the order was right. Not now. I wanted to leave 2 stars because I do like the food here, but what good is the food if the employees treat you like garbage? It’s not worth it to me. 1- star...
Read moreI visited the monroe olgas restaurant today for the first time. I am from Texas and did not know how this restaurant operated or what was on the menu. We were not greeted when we came in and did not know if this restaurant offered dining room service so we ordered at the counter. The lady who took our order was very short with us and we went and sat at a table waiting for our food to come. A waitress came by later and questioned us if we were eating in. I said yes. Our food came out in a to go bag and the lady that took our order threw the bag on the table and walked away. I asked the waitress if I could get some sauce for my sandwich and after a long wait she slapped down a small container and walked off. I asked the waitress a bit later for some napkins as none were provided in the bag. The waitress said; I don't have time right now, I have other people to wait on. Eventually she slapped some napkins down on the table and spilled some coke she was carrying on the napkins rendering them unusable and walked away. I found both ladies extremely unfriendly and rude. Also I left my car rental keys on the counter by accident, when I inquired after my keys, she made me wait a long time at the counter before she spoke to me and brought my key. My suggestion would be to put up a sign stating wait to be seated to eliminate any to go or dine in confusion. Also, a simple greeting like "Welcome in, will you dining in or take out" would help new customers. The food was good after a long wait for it but the service and how we as new customers were treated was totally unacceptable. When I asked for a manager, the lady said I am not the manager and...
Read moreI used to have a 50/50 feeling about Olga’s when I felt hungry. Half of me wanted to fill up, and the other half of me didn’t want to deal with the grease that comes from handling the food there.
That has all changed. This Olga’s has done a phenomenal job of refining their food, and its presentation. The portions fill you up without leaving you feeling like you’ve over eaten as many American restaurants do.
I order the Chicken Shwarma, which was beautifully put together, and tasted phenomenal. Also had the peasant soup, which was good, and I was pleasantly surprised it had their signature smackers with a bit of cheese on the side.
Alexa was my server, and she did a great job of ensuring all my needs were met. I’m a stickler for refills on my drink, and never had to ask for it.
Would have given 5 stars, but I still feel Olga’s lacks wet naps. While the grease has been cut down dramatically, that will always be an issue with Mediterranean food you use your hands with.
Other than that I will definitely be back...
