Chubby's Diner — Restaurant in Fresno

Very long wait for a table and kitchen slow too.

The restaurant was clearly busy. I Walked in to get a table and they had a sign-in sheet. I wrote my name on the sheet along with the number of people in my party. I requested the umbrella table outside and the woman said they'd clean it for us. They bussed and wiped the table but didn't seat us there. Instead they let us continue to wait while they rang up other tables, closed out their checks, bussed those tables etc. This was understandable. They were busy.

Meanwhile, a family comes in from the street and sits down at that table, and they got service before my party. Did they sign in on the list? No. They just waltzed in and got service before us. In fact two big families did.

Why bother using a sign-in sheet? We could have just sat down at the table and let them come and take our orders. Long story short, we waited a very long time for a table, and then a very long time for the kitchen to get the orders up. The quality of the food was good. The service was good, aside from the very long wait. However, the wait was terribly long and ruined the dining experience.

After years of living in Fresno me and my wife finally decided to give this a place a try. when we walked in we immediately noticed how small the place is and no one was at the host stand so naturally I grab 2 menu and headed to the bar. the server was nice a helpful as we mentioned this was our first time here I learned they DON’T have turkey or beef breakfast meat ONLY PORK or turkey meat for a sandwich I ordered the duke of earl and my wife ordered the western steak omelette. about 5mins after placing a order I noticed they had a microwave joking I said to my wife what if that’s what the use to cook our food sadly it wasn’t a joke. I watched as they cooked my steak in the microwave and put it on the grill for 2mins and plate it to be served as seen in the photos below I didn’t even touch my plate as for my wife she started off strong but that quickly ended when she noticed the texture of the steak in her omelet without fussing or any complaint we smiled and payed our bill in full and decided to go...

Wouldn't come again. I love going to dinners and ordering a hot chocolate and chicken omelet. The staff was friendly but very unhelpful for my group which none of us have been here before and didn't know what to order. The waitress kept coming every 5 minutes asking if we were ready but each time we told her were still reading through the menu, maybe it's just me, but when an entire table has their menus up and still reading them, we're not ready. It seemed like she was bothered with how long we were taking so we asked her for recommendations of the most popular items but responded with she didn't know what to recommend. So I tried myself to order an omelet that they already had but add some chicken to it and told me it would be a whole 5 or 6 dollars more.
