My child and I came in for IHOP at night not realize that the restaurant was closed for dine-ins (though walking in and waiting INSIDE for food was somehow okay?) due to construction over a month ago.
Placed my order for a specific omelet with ONLY THE CHICKEN AND CHEESE (there was no other omelet option with the same cheese and chicken) sans everything else. This was repeated multiple times. I requested this as I have severe acid reflux, especially at night, and even more so laying down for bed. As we were REQUIRED to take it to go, we left with the food and caught the bus. At our transfer point downtown we began to eat as we had plenty of time and I opened up my omelet to find that it had everything. Thus, I couldn't eat it and had to throw it away.
I called and ended up speaking with the employee who took my order, she tried to say, "Well, that's how it comes." Even though one can order a Big Mac as opposed to a Quarter Pounder at McDonalds and only get it with the meat, tomato, and special sauce, even though "it comes with cheese and other veggies". Her dismissive attitude had me request to speak to the general manager (whom I thought was the man we'd chatted with who seemed to be in charge of everything in the restaurant, including the construction, while we were there).
The alleged manager first tried to get me to come back and get it remade, but we couldn't as we'd left on the bus. Then she tried to get me to take a "meal on me next time you come in" but we don't go to that side of town but once maybe every 2 to 3 years and I am not going out of my way for a special trip just for a single meal replacement. Eventually, out of what seemed like desperation to get me off the phone but avoid bad reviews, she offered to refund the entire meal purchase of $57.40. I clarified that there was no need to refund the ENTIRE amount, just the cost of the omelet as it was done incorrectly despite me repeatedly stating ONLY CHICKEN AND CHEESE in the omelet when ordering. Eventually she agreed to refund only the amount spent on the omelet.
Over a month since then and yet STILL no refund of the screwup. So, now they get the bad review and complaints to the district manager and corporate.
UPDATE - TWO WEEKS LATER: I followed the IHOP Bot's response and filled everything out on their corporate site. Manager of the location called back the next day, said she'd take care of it and refund the money, taking full responsibility. It has now been two weeks later (and possibly a little more) 1/21/24 and STILL HAVE NOT RECIEVED THE MONEY BACK. Looks like it's time...
Read moreThe service was extremely friendly, helpful, mindful, etc, and I highly recommend this restaurant, but the food came very slow. If you're in a rush, and it is a busy moment, this is not the spot. However, when the food did eventually come, it was very good. Well prepared, hot, good stuff.
Little dingy, but that's what you should expect from a spot in downtown, just like the tower or most spots in San Francisco for example. Very popular spot, usually pretty full of nice comfortable people having a nice meal. Just as we were leaving, someone was getting interviewed in the front of the store for a job opening.
The booths are comfortable, and the tables are clean. The waiters are on top of things, and everything runs pretty darn smoothly. I admit that I'm a bit of a coffee snob, so the coffee was not necessarily impressive (metallic notes, and somewhat bland) but it was perfectly serviceable coffee, and for $4.60 roughly you should get a pot along with your cup, bottomless.
We ordered pancakes, and they were delicious. The waiter who took our order helped us get a better deal by encouraging us to order one serving of five pancakes, instead of two servings of two pancakes. She split them for us on two plates. Thank you!
My one complaint is that the food came slowly, but it was a busy moment, there were a lot of people there. Highly...
Read moreThis place is a disgrace to the IHOP Chain. We were waiting for 20 minutes and got nothing while the parties that were seated AFTER us got their utensils, water, drinks and a very attentive waitress. I had to call the manager just to get him to tell the waitress to set our table and to take our order. She got one of our drinks wrong. She took our order and got one totally wrong. No apologies but a negative attitude like it was our fault for ordering. The manager never came back to see if we were taken care of...the waitress had to be called for to refill our drinks. When the bill came, it had the wrong food item on it. When asked to get it fixed, she said, I will bring you the updated bill then as she walked away, she said the cashier will take care of it. When I paid, the difference was taken off and when I asked for the copy of the bill with the corporate phone number and email address for comments, she refused and put it away. We will never go to that IHOP again---even if it is for free...others have said that the service is good, but maybe they are related to the people who work there...that IHOP is an embarrassment to the corporation and should be investigated more thoroughly for upholding the IHOP reputation. BTW, the table needed to be cleaned, the syrup bottles were half used and sticky on...
