Wow!!! This place is truly a “hidden gem”! My daughter has been telling me for months, “you’ve got to try this place”. I put it off until today and….. omg Wow!!
We walked in, the place was clean, the employees were super friendly and down to earth, and not that “fake” kind of friendly. They had nice bachata music playing in the back.
I ordered the chili verde lunch plate with fried pork, rice and beans. And BAM!! 2 minutes after….. it was on the table!!
It was the best that I’ve ever had in my life! I’ve tried foods all over the SF Bay Area and that is the best tasting, most juicy and tender pork that I’ve ever experienced!! The rice was PERFECT! And the beans…Mmmm Mmmmm and more Mmmmm
I even ordered one to take home. The owner, I think that’s who he was who took my second order, he was super serious but I finally got him to give me a smile. :)
My daughter got the sopas. I’m not a fan of the taste of the masa bowl, but the way that it was displayed on the plate was so beautiful!!
The bathroom’s were so spacious and very clean!! The only thing that I didn’t like where the air dryers because those are known to be very non-hygienic, and also the noise scares my daughter because she has autism
Overall the prices $$ are a little bit too high but the food is amazing!!! A++++ My plate was just over $19, and that’s without the drink.
I’d go back just for the customer service and the pork but I can’t afford to eat there unless it’s a...
Read moreWent here on a Saturday morning around opening. Place wasn't packed, but definitely got busy by the time we left. Parking easy to find, but it was limited when we left.
I've been to their original location, but I wanted to check out their new location. The concept is the same. You order at the counter, and they bring you the food. I ordered a plate of spicy chilaquiles with chorizo on top that comes with eggs and beans along with a cafe de olla. The flavors have not changed! Still the best chilaquiles I've had! I wasn't a fan of the chorizo. Very little flavoring. However, adding carne on the chilaquiles are bomb! The beans have a very distinct flavor that I really like. The spicy sauce is perfectly spiced. The cafe de olla hits different! So damn good!
Overall, this is a gem of a spot. When we left the place was busy. The restaurant is inside a food court built in a historic old factory. The highlight is the service of the workers. They're very attentive and very nice. Despite us accidentally spilling a drink on the floor they were very gracious with us. An absolute must go-to spot...
Read moreArrival 12:30, Sunday. Wait time for food: 1 hour
System: The system is not really too clear when you walk in which is order at the counter and then grab a table wherever you can. The wait time for food will not be shared.
Service: You have to ask for water cups at the counter then get your own water from the soda fountain. Your table of choice may or may not be clean. I tipped 15% to clean my own table and hunt down my own water cups. Our wait time was about an hour at 12:30 on a Sunday.
Food: The food wasn't hot when it came out. Enchiladas- don't order them. They are basically rolled tacos with cubed meat and a very thin sauce on top. Chile relleno- mediocre, not amazing. Chilaquiles- mediocre, not amazing. They were basically eggs with crispy corn chips and sauce. Egg nachos?
Price: average $15 a plate with "fluctuating costs due to suppliers"
THEY CHARGE ABOUT .50 EXTRA PER MEAL IF NOT PAYING WITH CASH, LIKE A GAS STATION**
It was also too cold in there, take an...
