The food was mediocre but it’s the pink haired server that really made it the most unpleasant.
When she took our coffee order, she kept presssing my step dad to choose dark versus medium roast. We answered for him and she still wanted him to answer. He doesn’t speak English and most servers don’t force us to have to say that but this one just had to hear it from him. Fine, he orders.
Well, my mom orders decaf coffee for health concern reasons. She drank about 1/4 of it and immediately said she suspected it was full caffeine because it’s so rich and dark. She wanted to just be polite and not say anything because she wasn’t sure but it was confirmed when they refilled it with the same pot they did mine which was not decaf. So does stopped the server from filling it and mentioned it to one of the servers so as to not waste coffee. Then, they come and refill it again again and this time to the pink haired server, I let her know this was actually supposed to be decaf.
She then, instead of apologizing or anything she proceeds to train us that the coaster should be upside down for caffeine free. As if we’re supposed to know that and will need to know that. We’re here for a wedding, it’s our first time and we won’t be back. What’s the point of flipping it now when the server should have from the beginning?
Honestly, I would have removed the coffee from the bill because my mom did not end up drinking the full cup from the start. You have to remember, it’s not always a preference for people. She has a real condition in which caffeine can negatively affect her health, you need to be more careful as a whole. Don’t worry, we still tilled $20 on a $95 bill because I believe people should have a livable wage. I wasn’t even going to leave a review but then…
The tip of the iceberg was when this same pink haired server proceeded to yell at another server for “taking her water” as we were walking by. You need to give that pink haired server a break, she’s either overworked or something else is going on in her personal life. It’s 8 am and she’s that mean/crabby with people. That negativity spreads and it’s highly unprofessional to treat...
Read moreFood had a high YUM factor with good portion sizes. The French toast special $15 has "4 slices" which is 2 full thick Texas toast pieces cut in half. Perfect grilled outside and soft inside, with generous dusting of powderd sugar & a pat of butter. 2 pcs bacon cooked perfect for my taste, crispy but not too crunchy - delicious ( Not the cheap mostly fat greasy bacon either). 2 scrambled eggs were fluffy and lovely as eggs can get. Service was faster than I expected considering it was a full house at peak breakfast time on a weekday. Rebecca provided great table service. She was attentive and friendly in spite of the busy dining room. Coffee refills quickly provided by any employee passing by with the pot. That is really important to me in my morning brain haze! I only gave 4 stars for atmosphere due to ongoing wait for the one-toilet restroom. However the restroom was clean, fully stocked, smelled good, with pretty garden murals on the walls, door & ceiling. Also if you're seeking a quiet place to read the paper or chat over breakfast you might have some issue with the generally loud noise of happy customers and clattering dishes. It is probably not always as loud as it was during my visit but that was my experience. I consider it a fair trade-off for the tables being quickly bussed and cleaned as customers finished and moved on with their day fully tummy-happy and caffeine refueled. For a quieter meal, you may enjoy the limited outdoor seating with water misters nearby to cool the area on hot days. Parking can be a little tricky simply because this seems to be a busy popular place; it shouldn't be much of a problem except at peak meal times. There are only 2 handicap parking spaces. The rest of facilities are fully accessible. Red Apple is not open for dinner in June 2024 but I highly recommend anyone stop in to enjoy breakfast, a late lunch or...
Read moreWould have given 5 stars before yesterday..I've referred this place to many friends & family because of great food & service. The second my husband & I walked in at 7:30 am to meet two family members for breakfast the lady asked how many, I said four & the other two were on their way. She said well ok but sometimes people say their meeting & show up late. After checking her watch & making eye contact with the other girl at the counter she said well its 7:30 now, i said yes so they should be here any second. At this time I offered twice for us to wait until they arrived before seating. Lots of open tables btw. Rude. But ok. She says no I'll just seat you now. Very off putting. Our family showed up at exactly 7:35. It took 20 minutes for her to come take our order. When she came to our table I did mention this to her. She was immediately on the defensive & argued that it did not take 20 min. My husband politely said yes it did but it's ok. Strange experience from my many other visits. Food was very good but I ordered my normal coffee & kahlua but didn't taste any kahlua. I asked for another. Kahlua was added to same cup making coffee instantly cold but definitely didn't mention anything more due to waitress already being irritatable. Refills on water & coffee didn't come around very quickly. Not sure how I feel about returning & referring people. I'd be afraid to get...
