We decided to stop by Coopers Landing to try them out on a cocktail/small bite basis before diving in for a full date night and we were very glad we did . Our friendly waitress said that they had only been open for 3 weeks so this review is given with grace.
We arrived in-between lunch and dinner around 230 pm - the hostess took our name and number (not sure why there was like 5 people there) before sitting us we figured it might just be for training purposes. Our friendly waitress came up to greet us and let us know she is from the Galveston location and took our drink order. I ordered the French 75 (AMAZING) and my husband wanted the whiskey flight. This location did not have the correct glasses for the flight so he was unable to try it (bummer). Then we decided to get a charcuterie board. Which this is where the reduced stars come into play.
The board is advertised on their menu as including "4 year Sharp Cheddar, Blue cheese, Fontina cheese, prosciutto, salami, green grapes, strawberries, blackberries, Kalamata olives, Pimento stuffed green olives, and garlic bread"
We did not get - green grapes, strawberries, blackberries, Kalamata olives, Pimento stuffed green olives, and garlic bread
To make it easy out of the 11 items listed we only received 6- no explanation on the missing items no substitutes but we were charged full price... When we came to realize items were missing we brought it up to our friendly waitress and she stated that they were out of a few of the missing items but would go get the items they did have... never returned with them. Instead she returned and said that her shift was over and someone else would be taking care of us.
At this point we just wanted to leave. The atmosphere was stuffy (idk if the air was on) and we just felt a little cheated. I do think we will try Coopers landing again in a few months or maybe a year when they have worked out all the kinks. The most positive thing that I experienced with this visit was...
Read moreMy birthday fell on a Thursday August 28th and my wife and I both elected to eat the steak special for that day selecting the $35 Rib Eye steak special for the occasion. This was our first visit around 5 pm and the restaurant was well lit with a lite crowd of diners seated at about half of the 20-24 four seat tables. There was not an abundance of color in the basically white theme or plant life to enhance the decor. A picture of a dog with a cocktail adorned the wall we noticed. The host and waiter were very cordial as were other workers. The bar served drinks and took a little longer for orders than they said was usual. I had a beer priced at only $4 and my wife had a French 75, her first, at $14. The menu was limited in our opinion and surprise, but sometimes this is good. We both selected the Caesar salad instead of house salad and agreed it could have used extra seasoning. The steaks were cut about 6 by 3.5 inches and 3/4" thick with some gristle and large areas of fat suggesting either a Prime or Standard cut instead of Choice. However the aging seemed good to provide a tender flavorful taste as a result. The sides provided were a mixed vegetable and wedge potatoes cooked to tender bites. We enjoyed the meal and would consider this a slightly upscale restaurant for dining even though the patrons dressed in mixed attire with many in shorts and casual dress. The evening would likely be a different atmosphere with candle lit dining and better dressed patrons to set the mood. The owner also has a Galveston location we plan...
Read moreI was so looking forward to trying Cooper’s Landing and had even hyped it up to my friends as a new fancy spot in town, but sadly, the experience was a huge letdown.
We started with the bang bang shrimp appetizer, which was basically a salt bomb. Completely over-seasoned and hard to enjoy. My husband’s entrée came out with a cold scallop, and when we asked for a replacement, the new one had a weird butane-like aftertaste.... not something you want with a $45 dish.
I ordered the Greek salad, expecting something fresh and flavorful. What I got was a bowl that was 98% iceberg lettuce, no feta (even though the menu said there would be), and a dressing that was very clearly store-bought. It was bland and honestly kind of sad.
The place looks great — white linen tablecloths, upscale vibe — but the food does not match the price tag or the atmosphere. I’ve already told my friends to skip it. Hopefully they make some big changes, because right now, it’s...
