I always have my Birthday meal at Babe’s Chicken Dinner House in Frisco. There were six elderly people in my group counting me. We were seated promptly, and the server was very cheerful. We had two newbies with us, so she explained the routine to them. We split the check between three couples so though we were seated together there were three different orders for the server. That is when things started going downhill. First thing was the food was put on the table, but we had no plates to eat it on. We had to catch the waitperson to rectify this. Second is they brought four orders (2 of Fried Chicken and 2 Fried Chicken Tenders) out on one plate even though it was two separate orders. The restaurant was about half full at this time so being busy was not an excuse. The food quality has gone downhill at this location over the last several times we visited last year but man has it sank this year. I may not speak for all ten of the locations. I will give them the benefit of the doubt. But for the Frisco Restaurant we have been coming here regularly since 2009. We average six times a year. We have a history. Fried Chicken is as good as ever. But the creamed corn has changed for the worse. The Fried Catfish has gotten less and is not worth the extra dollar at all. And no Tartar Sauce, served with it. Worse, two of the ladies ordered The Fried Chicken Tenders. They are pre-prepared elsewhere I would guess, and they are small and tasteless. You know that because they used to have the same crust as the Fried Chicken. The only thing I cannot speak for on their menu is the Chicken Fried Steak because no one ordered it. I got Hickory Smoked Chicken and my wife had Catfish. It was good, but barely done, because of the difficulty separating the leg and thigh. The chickens are smaller. Not the size they used to have. Biscuits and sorghum were good as ever. I realize that restaurants are having to raise the price of food and cut corners to stay viable, but the quality of the food and the service has suffered for it. I had to chase the server down to get Louisiana Hot Sauce for my wife. The server never came back and refilled any of our drinks and though we did get more beans and corn we had to flag her down to request that. Overall, you have four regulars and two newbies that will not go back to Frisco. I told the wife we need to drive to Carrollton or Garland and see if the whole Restaurant chain has suffered or if it is just the Frisco Location. To top it off four of us ordered take home desserts, Two Banana Puddings and two Peach Cobblers. We had to chase the server down to do this also. All the desserts were terrible. The Banana pudding used to be unequaled anywhere. The pudding we got was runny and thin and too sweet, not even counting how small the proportion was. The Peach Cobbler was so bad, our friends threw them away. I am not sure what has happened at this Restaurant, but their food quality is not up to the standards it was when we started going in 2009. So, I have now lost my favorite place for special occasions. And at $70 dollars for the two of us, which was Catfish, Smoked Chicken, Two Iced Teas, and two Banana Puddings plus tip. The meal should have been better. Not to mention the service. The server made me do the Chicken song for my birthday and we got nothing for the sideshow. Not even a biscuit in a box.
