It was date night for me and my wife. I was looking for a new restaurant with highly decedent food, that would be well flavored and have exceptional customer service as well. To get to the point in case you don’t have time to read the rest, this spot didn’t disappoint.
As soon as we entered we were greeted and seated. We came around dinner time on a Saturday night, but it wasn’t too busy. Our waitress, Tracy was exceptional from beginning to end and you can tell she really enjoyed her job. She gave us the run down on how the restaurant worked. They use locally sourced ingredients and they care about the food and how it’s is presented to you. Like really, they want you to let them know and they will fix it if need be. You can also order small portions or mix and match if you want different items from the menu.
Let’s get into the food! From the starters menu I had the Spinach Dip and the Candied Bacon. Both were very delicious. The Spinach Dip was very fresh tasting and the dip was perfectly cooked. If you like Spinach Dip this is a must try! The Candied Bacon has maple syrup, ancho chili and red pepper flakes. It’s a nice combination and I really enjoyed the sweet and spicy flavors together. From the Entrees menu we ordered the Five Spice Baby Back Ribs. They had a special menu which we ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab Stuffed Flounder, and the Braised Short Rib. They all were delicious and worth it. The ribs was tender, and huge , and very savory with a sweetened just right barbecue sauce. The Short Rib was one of the best I ever had. You can tell it really did cook for the 6 hours that was described on the Specials menu has the seasonings were soaked into to the neat and gravy and it was SO delicious. The Crabbed Styffed Flounder was cooked perfectly and very tasty and well seasoned. It didn’t disappoint at all! I really enjoyed my Entrees. For sides we ate the Mac and Cheese and Mashed Potatoes they were both good. However I have ti be honest the mac and cheese wasn’t all that. Do be mindful that they give you a lot of mashed potatoes. Make sure you leave some room for dessert! For desserts we ate the Homemade Blueberry Cobbler and the Butter Cake. The Butter Cake was sweet and buttery and it’s a must have especially if cake is your thing! The Blueberry Cobbler was a decent sized portion and very rich in flavor. Unfortunately I ran out of room to eat all of it.
Overall I can’t wait to go back here especially if Tracy is working. The customer service was so so good. One of the managers even stopped by and brought us a sample of a dish we were considering. The drinks was mixed well made too. We had the Frozen and the Pineapple Martini. I definitely really...
Read moreSo much potential! My wife and I decided to try this place for the first time at lunch. The restaurant itself is very nice. A little on the small side (which actually increased our expectations). The Menu looked good so we decided "let's give it a go"!
We were out of the starting gates VERY well...the server Gigi was VERY VERY good. She asked us if we'd ever been there before and welcomed us warmly when we said we hadn't. She told us of the specials and when she took our order she didn't even need to write it down (the mark of great wait staffs). She brought us a sampler (free of charge) for being new and we were blown away by that. The coconut shrimp was fantastic - VERY crunchy! (this made the disappointing bits later even more hurtful). The candied bacon wasn't too sweet, the fried asparagus was good but the sauce took it to another level - SO FAR SO GOOD!
The Good, The Bad, and the Just OK...When our lunch came (French Onion Soup, Fish and Chips, and French Dip) It looked pretty good, but I was expecting more from the "chips" side of things (more on that in a bit). The Good...the French Onion Soup was very original with a puff pastry on top instead of bread. The soup itself was delicious! Now for The Just OK and The Bad...The entrees were a combination of excitement and then eventual letdown. The good part was the actual fish and the beef on the French dip were VERY good, tasty and well seasoned, but the disappointment was in the (what looked like) bagged frozen steak fries that lacked ANY crispness or flavor whatsoever. If you are going for more of a scratch made feel then take the extra time to hand-cut, par-boil, and flash fry your fries for a final crispy and tasty end product. Sadly the chips lacked ANY of that. The French dip was advertised to be on a baguette (implying a nice crunchy outside) but the bread lacked any crunch at all. Most disappointing to me was the fish, again it tasted great by itself but the batter was soggy and soft and a bit tasteless. I actually removed the batter from the last piece to enjoy the fish inside.
We WILL likely try again someday (mostly because of Gigi - who we gave a very nice tip to) but we will be on the lookout for some better execution from the Kitchen if we do return. It could have been GREAT, but alas it ended up kinda mid...hence the...
Read moreMy husband and I, our two adult kids and their significant others, ordered the traditional Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner from Craftway Kitchen in Frisco, at $70 per couple. We picked up on Wednesday from Eric, who was super friendly, and he stated that specific instructions to heat were included in the bags. We ordered both the smoked turkey and roasted turkey. On Thanksgiving Day, 30 minutes before our meal, we boiled water and placed the sealed turkey bags into the water for the designated time. It was this easy! Our complete dinner was ready in minutes! Thick, eight inch long slabs of succulent turkey, gravy, dressing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, mac 'n cheese, and cranberries in their sauce. They were ALL perfection! Also included was a fresh, spring greens salad with a delicious vinegarette. Every bite of the turkey was tender perfect, and all the sides were "home-made " Sad thing, however - after all that, we were too full to enjoy the bread pudding! Hard to imagine, right?? So, bread pudding is in the fridge for dinner tonight. And yes, even with the six of us, we still had sooooo much turkey left over! I'll be making turkey ceasar salad, turkey onelets, turkey soup, and turkey quiche through next week! Yes indeed, all the Craftway Kitchen portions are very generous! We've never gone "out" dining for Thanksgiving, much less catered, but due to a recent family medical emergency, we decided this would be best for T-Day, 2024. But while we were dining and enjoying our fantastic meal, we decided this was so wonderful, we would do this every year! Thank you, Craftway Kitchen. You have six new customers for life because you saved our Thanksgiving Day with outstanding service and an outstanding, unforgettable Thanksgiving Day dinner! Hmmmmm...are you doing this for Christmas?...
