I should start by stating that it's relatively unusual for me to review a place; I tend to reserve that for places that either were exceptionally good or surprisingly bad. Unfortunately, Luigi's falls into the latter category...at least their pizza does.

I should also say that I know good pizza. I've had some of the best "New York-Style" pizza from all around the country, including places like Lombardi's on Spring St in New York, the place largely credited as the birthplace of New York style pizza. I also want to make clear that I didn't have any outsized expectations for pizza greatness from Luigi's either. As with most Mom & Pop pizza joints, I mostly just expected an average Lisanti or Roma Food Service pie, which is usually somewhat disappointing, but perfectly edible while being nothing to write home about.

Instead though, what we got was easily - I mean by a factor if literally 2 or 3 times - the absolute greasiest pizza I've ever seen. The standing grease on top the pizza was so deep it was truly almost impossible to believe. My son and I used 3 & 4 napkins at a time to try and soak it up, but it actually completely saturated the napkins and STILL hadn't fully removed the grease! It was incredible. While the general flavor of the pizza WAS more or less off-the-rack food service pizza, the overwhelming amount of grease completely ruined it.

There's no doubt that pepperoni & cheese has the potential to be one of the greasiest combinations of toppings you can put on a pie, but I've eaten that same combination at plenty of places where they use better quality ingredients and different types of cheese that don't produce anything even remotely approaching the hot mess we were served at Luigi's.

So I guess what I'm saying is, order a pizza from Luigi's at your own risk. ...

I started coming to this place since they opened. As some others have mentioned, the pizza is hit or miss. Sometimes it is great. Sometimes the pizza is dry. In need of more sauce. The calzones and strombolis are decent. Service is usually in need of an attitude adjustment. Tonight I went in with my family just before 8:30pm. They close at 9pm. They didn't want us to dine in even though they are still open. I'm sorry but if you're open until 9pm. You don't turn your customers away because you don't want to work. Customer service is not a thing here. They really don't want to be inconvenienced. I have had several issues with this place over all the years of being a customer. I once had a coupon from them that was good through an end date. On the last day of the coupon, I phone ordered pizza, told them that I had this coupon and all was good. On my way to the store, they called me and told me that my coupon was no good because it was only valid during week nights Sun-Thu and it was Fri. They would not budge on such an insignificant amount. They messed up by having the end date too long since it extended into the weekend. We did not go back for over 2 years. There are other pizza joint around that want my business. Since they turned me away tonight, I guess I'm done again...

Terrible experience. Manager/owner is greedy and rude. I ordered the pizza and they said it was a 40 min wait. No problem. I ordered 30-45 min ahead of when I needed it. I get there on time and they said the pizza was almost ready, just a 5 min wait. Okay, I can wait another 5 min. Manager takes the payment in the meantime. Come to find out that they literally forgot my order and had to throw it in last second and I ended up waiting another 25+ min for it. I told them I can't wait any longer and want a refund. The staff says okay but needs to run it by the manager. The manager refuses because "the pizza is perfectly fine, I'll have to throw it out if I give you a refund." What kind of reasoning is that? Give it to your staff or something. In the middle of me arguing, the pizza gets finished and manager says the best she can do is give me $5 off. Completely awful. If they had just forgotten my order and told me, then I would have been fine with that and just looked elsewhere, but she straight lied to my face and then took my money while I'm watching the 10+ ppl behind me all get...

Luigi's is excellent! Placed a to go order online - it was 100% correct, even with a modification (I'm constantly plagued with mess ups) and the food was still hot after a long drive home. The service when I picked up the food was wonderful! The staff was very friendly and prompt in bringing my food, they even packaged my salad separately so it wouldn't be hot from the pasta, which more places should be doing! We ordered garlic bread with cheese, meatball sub and shrimp scampi (I added capers) which came with a house salad and the house tomato vinaigrette - everything was delicious. I will definitely be ordering from here again! My one request - please put a scampi / piccata on the menu without meat. It's so delicious but no one ever offers a vegetarian friendly version!

I used to live in Frisco and go here pretty regularly. I moved to Plano and go back every once in a while. Still one of the best pizzas in the area. Pizza is what I always get. Used to get meatballs and sausage on the side sometimes too. But usually just pizza. I ordered it online, double Pepperoni, sausage, and tomato. Was ready for pickup in fifteen minutes. Walked in, I was asked if I was there to pick up an order, gave them my name, then they gave me my pizza. Very simple. The pizza was better than I remember, and I remember it being good. I'm looking forward to moving back to Frisco. Too bad they aren't open until 10pm, so I could get it after work. Thanks for the deliciousness.

True pizza joint... you want something fancy go elsewhere. Now that we settled that, let’s discuss food. We had a salad, chicken parm and the chicken albanese. Food was tasty... good flavor. Took a while to get the pasta (everyone else was having pizza). The dressing for the salad came in Tupperware for liquids, that was odd (think, eating at your Italian grandmas house). Tomato vinaigrette was on the thick side for a vinaigrette — but tasted good!! Pizza - GOOD! Calzone - GOOOD! This place was SUPER busy— that tells ya something. A little slice of New York heaven in Frisco, TX! Who woulda thunk it?! Stop by if looking for some good New York style pizza & pasta!
