First, I want to start off by saying we have been coming to Platia for several years (probably 10 years or so) and it has always been our favorite Greek restaurant. Over the course of the 10 years, we have never experienced any issues until tonight.

I am unsure if there is new ownership or management as I have never seen this woman that was referred to by our server as the “owner” before. I had always seen an older man at the restaurant who I assumed had been the owner since we have been loyal customers for years.

My parents and I went to the restaurant about 5 pm and ordered 3 appetizers and drinks. We planned to eat the appetizers and then order the rest of our food to go as 5 pm was a little early for dinner. As we were finishing up our appetizers (after only being there for 30 min) and planned to order the rest of our dinner to go the next time the server came around, the so-called female “owner”, came up to our table and asked if we were ready to order. We said yes and that we were going to order food to go. She rudely responded with: if you’re not going to order dinner for dine in, we needed to get up from the table and order take out at the front & wait for it there because they “had a line at the door” of people waiting for a table.

Never in my life have I been asked to get up from a table before ESPECIALLY after only being in the restaurant and at the table for 30 min because there were other people waiting for a table. It’s not like we had been there for over an hour or 2 and ordered nothing. We ordered $50 worth of drinks and appetizers & had been there for 30 minutes.

I found this incredibly rude, distasteful, and extremely poor customer service. Especially from an owner (if that’s even what she was). We immediately ended our time at the restaurant, got our check, and left without ordering any additional food.

If you keep treating customers like that and asking them to leave the table as soon as they’re finished eating, you’ll have plenty of open tables!! And will most likely lose a lot of loyal customers in the...

Excellent experience! Wife and I had been craving Greek food for a while, and we just happened to be in the area when we realized A. we didn't have other dinner plans, and B. We were hungry... perfect. We had our teenage daughter with us, too, so dinner for 3 at Platia it was.

The dining room was full, with every table seemingly enjoying their meals. We walked in (no reservation) and only waited about 10-15 minutes for a table. This gave us the opportunity to peruse the menu and figure out what we wanted.

When we sat down, we immediately knew we wanted saganaki and calamari appetizers to start. The saganaki was presented with flair as the waiter lit it up right next to our table. The calamari was far from the normal, run of the mill frozen rings you get everywhere. These were more strip like and were served with a lemon garlic sauce. Amazing, crispy, and flavorful. Winners, both.

For the entrees, my daughter decided to have the katopodi appetizer as her meal, and my wife stayed simple with a small Greek salad. I had to order the lamb souvlaki platter, which came with Greek green beans, Greek potatoes, pita, and tzatziki (ohhh the tzatziki!). Everything was a home run. So much food and everything was well prepared and absolutely delicious. The lamb was tender with a good bit of pink on the inside. My daughters grilled octopus was very tasty too. I particularly liked the charred ends that she didn't want. If I had to pick a weak player it would have to have been the beans. Not bad just...eh. portion sizes were very generous. Definitely didn't leave hungry.

The seating area is not super spacious, but it isn't small either. The decor is reminiscent of the small Greek Island towns and features a stone facade that sections off one portion of the room from another. Very well thought out and comfortable.

The staff did their jobs well, certainly no complaints there!

We hope to be back again soon... those cravings...

NOT FRIENDLY TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES OR SERVICE DOGS

You can’t go wrong with anything here. I’ve been coming here for over a decade. It’s amazing. Until tonight. I arrived with an out of town guest and my boyfriend, as well as my service dog. As soon as I walked in the door, the hostess was verbally aggressive and hostile about my service dog, who is a small 15 lb dog with an actual service dog harness on. She asserted that my dog wasn’t a true service dog because she was sniffing the floor. My dog is always sniffing because her focus is smell for my diabetes. She is still learning and sometimes needs reminders not to sniff. But this dog has never eaten anything at any restaurant she’s been to. She’s gotten compliments time and again because servers didn’t even know she was there under the table staying close to me. And as a matter of fact, we had just been to this very restaurant for my anniversary dinner 5 days before. It will be awhile before I recommend anyone with a disability (visible or not) go there. Sitting out in the car and trying to find somewhere else to go to, lo and behold they had changed the sign to CLOSED 20 mins early. Everyone inside started leaving within about 5 minutes of me being refused service. I’d have much preferred they just told me they aren’t taking any more customers tonight. I’d have understood and gone on my way. But the hostility, lying about new Texas laws for service dogs, and lying about my dog eating off the floor… that’s where I have to seriously reevaluate my loyalties. I’ve recommended Platia to many, many people over the years. I’m disappointed to...

This places is the must go for Greek food is you are in the area. I only yesterday realized that haven’t done the review and I couldn’t believe it 🤦🏼‍♀️ The food: +The menu es very traditional, and it’s posted in their website online (without prices, those vary for the entrees from ~16 to $22, which I believe it’s the steak). +They have a fairly varied menu (chicken, lamb, steak) which includes either entrees or pita sandwiches. Some of all time favorites are: Briziola Steak, Chicken Slovaky, the lentil soup (delish), and if you have still space the Baklava and Sokolatina (for chocolate lovers this is the cake!, but it’s huge). The place: + The place is on the smaller side, specially for bigger groups. But if you party is less or equal to 4 you should be golden. + They have both indoors and outdoors seating. +Parking is available by the street (kind of the parking mall) and tends to be busy. But, there is plenty. Service: +Food comes out fast. +Service can feel a bit rush but it’s because they are always full. Attention points and tips: > it’s a traditional and family owned restaurant. they are usually pack on peak times, and specially on the weekends. > B.Y.O.B., bring your own beer or wine, has a $2.95 fee per bottle. > For to-go orders, you can call in, and they will have your order ready in about 15 min.
