This place is a joke. Walked in to the counter, said "Hello". 2 employees kept talking to each other ignoring my family standing there. Waited a few minutes, said "Can I sell some clothes?". Was told to registered on the tablet that was not even working properly. Had to enter every letter and number 10 times. Gave them full bag of winter clothes (and some summer once) and waited on the bench for 15 min. After 15 min the girl who was working with our clothes called my name and gave me a paper to sign asking if I want $6 cash for 2 WHOLE THINGS out of the bag full of clothes, or $7.50 store credit. I said I will take $6. She proceeded to check me out, when suddenly her coworker who was talking to someone on the phone jumps to us and says "We can not give you cash, store credit only". I asked why? and why her coworker just literally told me that she is giving me $6 cash? The rude person (who mind you was still talking to somebody on the phone ) said because those are winter clothes. Your whole store is full of ugly, overpriced winter clothes. It is not summer and you didn't even take any of the summer items I brought. I told them that they have no clue how to treat a customer and I do not want any store credit. Employee gives me my bag of clothes back without the 2 items she wanted to keep. I said "where are the 2 items you wanted, you didn't give them back to me". After that 2 items were returned to me and we left with all the clothes we brought. Went up the street, sold almost everything at Plato's closet and got $40. I hope that rude girl on the phone is not a manager. If she is, I feel sorry for the customers and for that store. Give your clothes to a charity or take it to Plato's closet. Ugly and expensive clothes at that store. They pay $3 for an item, and will sell it for $18+. Have not seen anything cheaper than $17.99...
Read moreOkay, so if you're thinking about hitting up Plato's Closet, you might wanna stick with that plan. But let me just say, the workers at uptown cheapskate, they seriously need an attitude adjustment. Like, I get it, they're dealing with a crazy workload, but come on, can't we all just spread a little positivity? So, picture this: I walk in all smiles and good vibes, and what do I get in return? A total lack of energy and some seriously vague instructions about my clothes. And don't even get me started on the rules they're throwing around. It's like they're just making stuff up as they go. Oh, and get this, their whole email-only system for notifying you when your stuff's ready? Kinda inconvenient compared to a simple text, don't you think? And if you miss their email? Boom, your clothes are suddenly donations. Feels like they're lowkey hoping you'll forget just so they can cash in on those tax write-offs. But wait, there's more! I was talking with my friend, and the workers start talking smack about her bag that she brought in to donate her clothes in right in front of her! They act like she’s clueless, and that customers are just a bother. Not cool, guys. Oh, and here's the real kicker: one of the workers is strutting around shirtless in overalls. I mean, seriously? Nipples and stomach out, and we're all supposed to be cool with it? And who's the fashion police here? Like why do they get to decide what clothes get taken with their clothing choices… It's like they're running a super exclusive club, and I'm not sure I wanna be a member anymore. If you're thinking of donating clothes, maybe check out Plato's Closet or just pass your clothes on to folks who'd actually appreciate 'em. These weird and ungrateful workers? Yeah, they're not worth the...
Read moreI've shopped here once before and bought some nice converse. The clothes are organized by color and size which is nice, but they are a bit overpriced for a resale shop which makes me hesitant about buying things. Since I had bought from them once and I had tons of clothes of my own to give away, I was excited to come here and try to sell like two small suitcases worth of clothes and shoes.
I was very quickly disappointed. The woman told me it would take 30 minutes to go through the everything, I watched her very quickly glance through my clothes in about five minutes, many of which were in great or excellent condition, a lot of clothes from Forever 21, a barely worn thick winter skirt from Uniqulo, barely/never worn heels and platform heels, winter boots, sweater from the Limited, Abercrombie and Fitch, etc. I expected them not to take a couple of things, but this was ridiculous. At one point I specifically pointed out one of the skirts she was looking at was brand new from Forever 21 (Still had tags) that I had bought a couple weeks ago and it didn't fit me as well as I thought (it was on clearance so I couldn't return it).
The skirt was the only thing they took. $2.50. This was extremely disappointing because I really needed new winter clothes and was hoping to buy some new items from here. I was even excited to tell my friends about this place to maybe save some money on brand name clothing. But I feel super burned by this experience and don't think I will...
