Make sure you check in on Yelp for one free spicy chili sauce! I actually dumped this entire sauce into my ramen bowl, and it gave the soup an extra umph!
Parking: I believe this is their newest location. They’re located in a newly-built plaza down the street from CSUF. There’s plenty of free parking in the lot.
Ambiance/Environment: We visited on a Saturday around @13:30, not realizing their last call is @14:45. They close for a couple hours to prepare for dinner, and reopen @17:30. This spot is great for large groups. Plenty of indoor seating. No outdoor seating.
Service: Shout out to our server Kristen! She made us feel welcome, and we didn’t feel rushed at all. The cooks were quick and efficient. We received our orders under 10 minutes. After dining, you pay at the register.
What we ordered: We dined for a total of 3 persons.
Gyoza - This came with 5 pieces. Much smaller than I thought, but these were absolutely delicious. It was filled with pork and chicken and paired well with the sauce.
Mogu Chicken - My cousin ordered this as an appetizer. These were so mouth watering. Perfectly fried and crispy. Don’t forget to dip it in the sauce for extra flavor.
Karaage Bowl - My partner ordered this rice dish. Mogu chicken, rice, scallions, sriracha mayo. He felt there could’ve been more Mogu chicken because there was a lot of leftover rice. Though, he still enjoyed it.
Tokyo Mazemen - My cousin ordered this dish. For those who don’t know, Mazemen is a Japanese, noodle, broth-less dish served with oil and toppings. This specifically contained spicy minced pork, poached egg, scallions, chives, minced garlic, fish umami, seaweed flakes. They also had instructions on how to properly eat Mazemen on their menus and walls. They later brought a tiny bowl of rice. My cousin loved this dish! It wasn’t too salty, and everything paired well together.
Spicy California Tonkotsu - I ordered a ramen bowl. This contained pork, chicken broth, sliced pork chashu, scallions, soft boiled egg, woodear mushroom, seaweed. It wasn’t spicy until I dumped the entire spicy chili sauce in. The soup was flavorful afterwards. They were generous with the toppings, but I wish it had more than 2 pieces of pork.
Pricing: I think we can all agree this inflation is wild. At this point, $$$ is considered the average price range now. We were able to share everything between the 3 of us. Portions were definitely fulfilling. We’d come back to try...
Read moreWow! I was determined to find other places that had dry noodle in this special style, and was so happy that me and my family found this on yelp! They call this Mazeman, and some of the places I tried, I kept thinking, I wish there was more variety, in case a family member doesn’t really eat this style of noodles. Well I don’t have to look any further, as this place has plenty to choose from. Not only was there Mazeman, there was Ramen, and even rice bowls!. I’m not quite sure how the service is in this place, but when I took my order the person helping was nice and patient.
Food So since it was our first time, and they had so many items we decided to try a few different dishes. Had to try the Deluxe Mazeman. Maybe I have never ordered this to go, but it was an awesome experience. There were instructions on the bowl itself on how to get your Mazeman ready to eat. You have to first heat it up, then add the egg they have for you (it’s cooked a bit) and mix everything up. Then you add the vinegar provided, enjoy and add some rice in the end to finish all the ingredients. The squid appetizer and the chicken they have is so good as well.
The place was in a bit of an unexpected location, but it wasn’t too hard to find. It was clean inside and looked modern. I cant wait to come back and try more of the different food that they have....
Read moreMixed ramen, very interesting! They have a location in ktown and Costa Mesa, so I was pretty sure this place would smack. Kinda hard to survive in those locations without a good product. I thought it would be similar to summer style brothless noodles, but it's very warm and comforting! I got the deluxe, which comes with chashu and ground pork, poached and soft boiled egg, fish powder, seaweed, and green onions, with extra poached egg and cilantro. I wanted that creamy yolk mixture drool It's very delicious; solid umami taste. I'm also a fan of thicker noodles so this was right up my alley. Like any decent ramen place, the noodles are perfectly al dente. I didn't see an option for thin noodles. The sesame seed grinder is very convenient to use, and the homemade umami vinegar (kombu and chili pepper marinating in vinegar) is a great finisher for the heavier elements of the sauce. Then, you can sop up all the yumminess with a scoop of complementary rice. I love it when a dish you're eating goes through various phases, it keeps it fun and exciting. I'll have to try their tonkotsu broth next time, but their flagship dish is enough to keep me coming back. I'm very happy there are more solid ramen spots opening up in Fullerton, the selection is not too great rn.
A different way to enjoy everyone's favorite...
