Chick-fil-A — Restaurant in Fultondale

I have had my third and final bad experience with the Fultondale location. I place an online order at 10:45 am on 2/18/22 for 20 chicken sandwiches, then immediately called to see when the order would be and was told no more than 15 mins. So I send someone to pick up my order that is already paid for at 11 am "the store is 5 minutes away" to give an additional 5 minutes. At 11:30 my person calls me and says hey they are busy but they have told me it will be 10 more minutes. Hey no problem I say but its already 30 mins late. I get a second call at 11:40 saying they havent even made my order... so i call and i give them my order number to which im told that ive made a mistake and placed my order at another location, "i had not". so i told the store manager to please make my 20 sandwiches and I would be there in person shortly. When I arrived, I showed the store manager my order that did indeed show the Fultondale location and showed my account where I had been charged. I was told that they didnt have the order and i would have to pay again to have the order filled, she did at least apologize for the confusion. At this point im over an hour in and have people waiting so i reluctantly give them my card a second time. While waiting on my order that already an hour and a half late i check my bank again and what do you know a second charge. so i get the store manager and show her, then ask for a re-fund and im told that only one will actually hit my account. All this goes by and finally at at 12:30 the same lady comes out and they have indeed found my order that i placed at 10:45 and again apologized, and not a minute later comes back again and shows where my card was charged twice. i do managed to finally get my order 2 hours after i ordered and it was correct but after all that transpired, and with history of this two other times in less that 3 months, i will drive to Gardendale or another location...

This is convenient to the Interstate. I stopped on my way home from a road trip. The drive thru was moderately busy (5pm on a Wednesday). Ordering and paying was a quick enough process. We waited only a couple minutes after pulling forward before my food arrived. The order was correct and the woman was friendly. She even asked if I she could get my two kids in the back a water because of the summer heat as she handed me my bag. We declined as we were heading to another drive thru for the kids preferred food next.

Unfortunately, all of the cashier/drive thru efforts didn't matter much in the end, because restaurants are ultimately about the food. This food was horrible. The fries tasted like old burnt oil and were only lukewarm. Some were almost soggy in texture (maybe they weren't allowed to drain properly?). My chicken was hot and moist, but the bun it was wrapped in was stale. Like "knocking on wood", heavy cardboard stale. Instead of biting into a soft bun, I found myself instead using my teeth to rip parts away on the first bite. At that, I removed the bottom bun...it was not visually burnt or overly toasted. To my eye, it visually looked normal. However, after thumping on it with my finger I discovered the bottom bun was indeed the culprit. I ended up throwing the bottom bun away and eating my sandwich with only the top bun.

The kitchen staff ruined what had been an overall good experience in drive thru. The 3 stars I gave this location is for those that helped take my order and deliver my food. Without them, this would have been a...
