Minus one star for not having a yellowed smoke stained ceiling, I have no idea why they would have done that remodel and removed the patina that it so rightfully earned. Minus another star for banning smoking, especially not allowing the chef to smoke at the grill. All the best waffle chefs smoked at the grill and they all left so the food definitely went down a bit in quality. Please reinstate your smoking policy, pretty sure Waffle House was grandfathered in and it's still permitted.
"Welcome to Waffle House!" is what the non-smoking employees will announce to you as you enter, all the while being fueled by nicotine from their last smoke break. It's a pretty standard Waffle House. It shares a parking lot with Dairy Queen but no one actually sits down to eat there, they all go through the driveway until 401 and Main Street get backed up from the line into the drive through...this can make it tricky to get to Waffle House, you may need to enter the parking lot by Eggs Up Grill and then enter through the alley.
Restaurant seems fairly clean, 3/5 stars versus regular restaurants, 4/5 versus other Waffle Houses. Food is always served quickly and correctly with a smile, especially if you've had a few at the bar and roll in between 2-5am. If you do go that late you might see some crazy shit! Waffle House employees should be teaching FVPD how to deescalate tense situations. These guys are armed with nothing but plastic cups but they can chill out any problems in a hurry.
I highly recommend the Texas Bacon Cheesesteak. Don't forget to add ketchup, pickles, and mayonnaise and maybe a spash of Worcestershire sauce. Second favorite from the menu is the double hash browns, scattered, smothered and done extra crispy. These things just smack homey! And to finish it off for dessert get the double waffle with either chocolate chips or blueberries, and don't forget to ask for extra real syrup and make a lake, gotta get all that sugar flowing through the blood mixing with the Moutain Dew and Monster Energy you slammed before coming in. YEAH BABY!!
And if you want something from the secret menu, order the steak and eggs. Get the steak done rare and the eggs sunny side up. This combo tastes way better than anything coming out of the Angus Barn for...

Well, the food isn't spectacular but for what you get for the price, I think it's a fair deal. Especially considering it's open 24 hours a day.
As with most national chains the quality of product and service is fairly consistent. However, especially with service, due to the variability in the labor pool in some regions and communities, the wait staff can either add or detract from the experience.
But in this particular case, in my visit here to this location in the quaint town of Fuquay-Varina in North Carolina (the name derives from two towns that merge together), I was pleasantly surprised.
There were few customers in the store at this time, in fact I may have been the only one since it was in the dead of the afternoon when business is slow at these places. But the staff, especially the lead server, an older lady in her 60's maybe, made me feel as if I was having dinner at my mom's house.
I was in town to consider possible relocation and I was unfamiliar with the area. This kind lady took out of her time to tell me about the neighborhood and went out of her way to help me get directions going so far is the walk outside the store and help me find the way.
And to top it off, they even heated up my syrup! This may seem like a minor detail, but I've had difficulty getting this request at other places, for some reason.
A pleasant experience with honest, hard-working, and often poorer Americans struggling to...
Read more(written in 2014, posted 3/24/16)This Waffle House is disgustingly dirty. With limited eating establishments for lunch in this town, I have eaten once/weekly at this restaurant for a couple of years. The cleanliness continues to go downhill over time to the point now that I feel motivated to write this review. There is only one other restaurant I have found in this town with as low a Sanitation Inspection Rating as this restaurant location has, and that is a single location Mexican restaurant. You would think a national chain restaurant could beat those guys out for the lowest sanitation score, but a tie it is. By the way, public records show the sanitation ratings for this Waffle House are: 8/21/14 90.5 (tied with the Mexican joint!) 12/30/13 92.5 6/25/13 92.5 Major citations for dishwasher not reaching sanitizing temperature (2); Thermometer out of calibration: once by over 8 degrees, once by 15 degrees Floors, walls in cooking area cited for dirty, lots of garbage present (2) Equipment not clean (1) Soda and ice machines dirty (2) Same gloves used to handle raw meat were used to handle cooking pan, clean plates, and jam packets (1) Ryobi drill used to stir waffle mix (1) Not sanitizing food contact surfaces (1) Visible mold growth present in walk-in cooler (1) cheese and ham storage above required temperature (1) Cook not washing hands between glove changes (1) Food stored in walk-in cooler below condensate line (1), leaking condensate line (1) By the way, I too got sick from eating here. I note other reviewers have as...
