We’ve visited other Jefferson’s in the past and have always been pleased. This was our second time at this location and we will not be back. My father is in a nursing home in Gadsden and we have driven down to see him the past 2 weekends. I was very excited to see there was a Jefferson’s there, as I have always loved the hot wings. The first time we visited the service was extremely slow and the teenage wait staff were very nonchalant and didn’t seem to be too interested in providing good service. However our food was tasty so we returned last night for dinner after leaving a visit with dad at the nursing home.
We sat ourselves and waited about 10 minutes for a server to come take our drink orders. She returned with our drinks several minutes later and took our food orders. I ordered my favorite wings, since I didn’t want fries or chips she asked if I wanted extra celery instead, sure that worked for me. My husband ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and a side salad.
We waited for over 30 minutes for our food to come. Our sever walked past our table several times and never stopped to check in with us, or offer to go check on our order. In fact she didn’t even look at us as she walked by. This was a little irritating.
When our food finally did come, the side salad was disappointing as it consisted almost entirely of the core of the head of lettuce and was uneatable. Worst of all, the pieces of celery that were stacked on top of my wings were still covered in dirt and had not been cleaned. Not just a little dirt, but a lot of dirt. Like pulled right out of the ground and put on a plate amount of dirt. Stacked on top of my wings. I flagged the server over and brought it to her attention. She offered to get me some new celery, not new wings mind you. She went to the back, 10 minutes later came out with a small plate of celery with all of the pieces laying curved side down, sat it on the table and walked off. I thought it strange that each piece of celery was arranged lying face down, so as I picked them up to inspect, low and behold, the second batch was just as dirty as the first. In addition to the mud there was also a piece of blue plastic in this batch. I flagged our server back over to inform her. She made some comment about how she told the kitchen already. At this point I asked her to just forget about it and take the plate away. I picked at a few of the wings that did not have the original round of dirty celery laying on top of them but couldn’t bring myself to eat them all.
After about another 20 minutes the server brought our check, sat it on the table and walked away. After some time she came back to check on another table and my husband flagged her down and asked her to remove the charge for the extra celery that was on our check. This was the breaking point for me. After being brought 2 rounds of dirt covered food that was supposed to be a sub that she suggested I didn’t feel there should have been a charge at all for the celery. The server said she’d have her manger look at it, not that she’d get it removed. It made me feel like I was being irrational for even asking that it shouldn’t be there. She did bring back a new check with the charge removed.
Now this brings me to another point, it was obvious that we’d had a bad experience. Not just one thing gone bad, but over all a pretty terrible experience. Not once did a manger come over and speak to us or ask us about our visit. As we left, we tried to go to the address to fill out the survey listed on the receipt only to get an error message stating that the site was no longer available.
This level of service is not what we have enjoyed at other locations of Jefferson’s as we’ve traveled (Lawrence KS and Scottsboro AL). If this is the type of expectation that can be received at the Gadsden location we will not continue to spend our money with this establishment on our many future visits to the city. To say we were disappointed in this visit would be a vast...
Read moreMy husband and I went to eat here tonight and it was the worst service ever. I tried to be understanding but we had our order messed up more than once. I finally out my food in a to go box and left. It started with our appetizer being wrong and she had to fix that we wound up getting my husbands food before we could get the whole appetizer. When she brought out his nacho it barley even had any cheese at all on it and she told me it would be a minute on my boneless wing and I said I wanted bone in the wings and I wanted 5 honey bbq. She had to fix that then she brought me the wings and it wasn't the sauce I ordered a old friend seen me and asked how the food was I told her I didn't like my wings it wasn't what I ordered but I didn't want to say anything after everything else was messed up. She told the waitress and she asked me what I wanted if I just didn't want them at all and then said I've screwed up there order all night and laughed then the other waitress said would you like them remake them and I said yes. By the time I got my food, I just wanted to go home I asked for to go boxes and the ticket. She gave us the boxes and came back and asked if we would like to go cups or a to go drink we said yes thank you and then she brought the ticket. The other girl that I knew brought over the cups and lids and lids for our sauces and a bag to put our food in because she had left us sitting there and never brought our drink cups or asked us if we needed anything even though she offered the to go cups. Also to top it off we were the only table that she had. After going there tonight i probably won't be back it was terrible service a terrible experience and the ticket was ridiculously priced for food that we hardly got to eat or that wasn't jacked up. I would have rather went to McDonald's for our dinner date and that's saying a lot because, I don't eat McDonald's food! I've worked as a server at a few places and I would have never done anyone like that and I would have tried to make up for the terrible service even if the problem was or...
Read moreI went to Jefferson's today with a co-worker and placed and order for 10 wings and an order of fried mushrooms. The mushrooms came first, so after eating them I decided that I would take my wings home. They were delivered and I asked for a carry out box and put them in to take home. After I got in car and was leaving I realized I forgot my box on the table it hadn't been 5 minutes. I called and explained what happened and was told it had been thrown away. So there went my $11.43 in the trash. I asked to speak with the manager and I spoke with Jordan. I was not rude, I explained what happened and just told her that if a customer leaves a to go package at a table would it not be a good practice in the future to sit it on the counter for at least 20 minutes to see if someone returned or called to say they would be back to get it. I believe i upset her because she told me, that the table was cleaned and it had been thrown away and there was nothing that could be done. We talked a bit longer and she said I can get you 5 wings if you pick them up today, because it happened today, and I said even if I were to return, I didn't order 5, I ordered 10. Jordan, don't worry about it. I won't be returning. My co-worker & I go to Jefferson's on a regular basis and honestly I don't think asking if it could be held 20 minutes would hurt anything, they didn't even wait 5 minutes before tossing it. I don't know about anyone else but money doesn't grow on trees and you would think there would be more thoughtful employees there. Honestly, I didn't expect they would replace my food, I don't know that I would've felt comfortable eating it because people can be mean and do things to your food out of anger, maybe not, but it has been done. I did hope they would rethink the policy of holding a customers food. I have always enjoyed going to Jefferson's in the past but I don't think I will return. Not angry, just...
