Waffle House — Restaurant in Gadsden

They were out of straws. Wait... let me rate the food first, then I'll tell the story of the hunt for straws. The food was a little greasy and when we ordered one waffle the waitress said, "Okay," but didn't put the waffle on our order. That's the bad. The good was that the food was still delicious, just a little greasy, and the service was good. We like Waffle House coffee and that's what they have here; Waffle House coffee. Overall a 4 out of 5 and I rated accordingly. My wife got a sweet tea to go. When the waitress brought it she apologized for them being out of straws. Now, I knew that we were going to the store when we left, so I offered to grab some straws. That's just what I do. Surprisingly, she said that would be great. Not being one of those guys who says, "If you need anything..." and doesn't mean it, I said, "Cool." We went to Winn Dixie, did our shopping, and looked for straws. That is a different review. They only had 2 options of straws and neither was one that I would want as a customer of Waffle House. Now I had a dilemma. Do we run around a town we're not too familiar with or give up? I'm only a tad ashamed to admit that we gave up. It turned out okay though. We stopped back at Waffle House because I didn't want them to be eagerly awaiting straws that were not coming. I'm not a jerk! When I walked in, the waitress asks, "Did you find straws?" As I shake my head, the waitress next to her says, "We have straws." That had them the whole time! As we chose not to go too far out of our way, no harm no foul. And we all lived...

It is sad when your the only people in the place and got ignored. When you ask for over easy eggs and she tells to cook the wrong type. Then you ignored like you don't matter. Never again at this one. Sad because I love Waffle House Update: We decided to try again, 3/02/2023 @7:40 PM, and I cannot believe it was even worse. We sat at the only clean table there was, and we never acknowledged. Every table was dirty except that one. There were 3 tables in there, all of whom had ordered and another gentleman walked in behind us. The only time she even acknowledged us was to say we could sit at the 1 clean table or she would clean one for us in a minute. We decided to sit at the clean table. Waited 15 minutes and she never once said anything to us. As we decided to leave because of this, she huffed at us and rolled her eyes. Now if the place was busy or she was taking care of others it would not have bothered me. The fact that she was gossiping and not helping anyone else is what made me so angry. At least she could have taken a drink order but instead chose to disrespect us. So we went down the road to another Waffle House and enjoyed a very lovely young lady who, although was busy, really made our night better. So it may not mean much to anyone else, but I would rather spend my money and time somewhere that treats me...

I tried to call and this holiday thing comes on saying they are not taking call in orders to order online. Then I get there there is only 4 customers in the store sitting at 2 booths. The waitress was in the back and the cook was handing out an order. He gets the waitress and she comes out in a black hood the was filthy. She ask for my order and I had to repeat it twice then she tells me we're out of chili. She goes and check and scraps the bottom of the pan and says yeah we're out. This was at 5 minutes to 6 this morning. I never saw the cook again. Every time I go this waffle house on Rainbow dr it's always they are out of something or the store is unkempt. I will never go there again and I think it's ironic that in less than an hour after I was there they now have chili. It takes 45 minutes to make chili the proper way for Waffle House. WOW but I was not compensated or told they could get me some chili or anything.This store has a history of being lazy and food unavailable and dishes all over place at 2 o'clock in the morning.
