Big Mill's Cheesesteaks — Restaurant in Gainesville

WOWZA!!!! PRICEY PRICEY!! $$-$$$.

This is my second time here and honestly, I really want to like this place but I can’t get past the price for a meal—a sandwich meal.

Let’s be honest here. A basic “big” Philly cheese, onions, peppers, & provolone, which is equivalent to a footlong, is $11.85!! Make it a combo with crinkle fries and a med fountain drink and the total cost for lunch was $16.95!!!! Call it what you want but it’s just a sandwich. I can get a Subway footlong cheesesteak w chips and a drink for just $10.60. I can get a rib lunch plate at Adams Rib for $7.99. I can get a Olive Garden endless pasta lunch bowl for $9.99 and that comes with salad and breadsticks. But that’s my beef with the price. Let’s talk sandwich.

What kind of bread are you using? Traditional PCS’s come on a crusty crispy hoagie roll. Today, again, my roll was a soft, mushy, wet mess. Who wants to eat bread that feels like it’s dipped in grease? You’re really off on the bread. I complained about this on my first visit and asked to have my sandwich remade and not assembled to avoid the sog. Either your meat cooking standards are waaaay too greasy or you're not toasting the bun properly? Speaking of meat? My meat looked like it was much less quantity than the last. It literally looked like I had a beef shred hotdog in this monstrous bun. I want to taste ribeye, not solely bread in every bite. I feel that you’re hoagie bread selection is wrong. It’s like a Cuban Sandwich being served on soggy Cuban toast. Blasphemy. Like I said. I really want to like Big Mills but feel let down again. I’m sorry. You’re just too expensive...

THIS IS MUST STOP LOCATION!! How can I express this completely...we had the absolute best experience at this place. We are from out of town on an unfortunate situation of a family member being in the ICU trauma of ShandsHospital. We had the incredible honor of meeting the owner during our visit here. Let me tell you how this man was the most considerate and humble man. He shared one of his items that he's testing for a spot on his already fabulous menu. He stayed and talked with us for about 20 mins. He offered his genuine concern and condolences for our family along with his prayers. His staff is very friendly, very pleasant and helpful with decisions about creating our order, and honestly, 4 people that had no idea what we wanted, they made it so much easier. Such a fabulous experience. Now, here we are again, 4 days later. We came back to this location. We received an amazing welcome as we came through the doors, the staff remembered us. That's incredible to me. They see oodles of people daily and remembered us. We didn't get to see the boss man today, he was on his way somewhere when we got here. Hope he and his staff have a fabulous day If you are in town, going thru town, this is a definite must stop location. it's an hour from home for me and I will gladly make that drive to visit here again. THANK YOU FOR BEING THAT AMAZING SMALL BUSINESS! SEE YA'LL AGAIN...

Oh my goodness I cannot tell you the last time that I had a good take out from Gainesville was... Not only was the online ordering process simple and and super easy they offer curbside service. I am not even done eating my food and I had to stop and write this review. They estimated my order would be ready in 15 minutes, I called when I got there so that way I could add a side of meat from my puppy who just got shots today lol so it's her special treat. I have to tell you the lady that answered the phone was super polite added it no problem I went in I paid for it as I was walking in 8 minutes before it was supposed to be ready it was ready... In addition the strawberry lemonade frozen is amazing I love my new metal straw thank you big Mills please support this local gem of a business cause they are amazing you would never know that covid had happened based on their attitude service and quality products... By the way they actually read the comment section of the menu where I asked for extra crispy onion rings they were super extra crispy thin goodness, the the extra sauce that I wanted was already in the bag day they nailed everything not 1 not 1 negative 2 say. They were 100% on everything!!!! I'll be back very soon Oh and by the way the portions don't look as big as they actually are in...
