The Harry's in St Augustine is very nice but we decided to go to another Harry's because in St Augustine you have to pay from 10 to $20 for parking and then when you going to the restaurant because it is very very popular you have to spend from 40 to 55 minutes wait time. So we decided to go to the Harry's in Gainesville it is beautiful! it is a community Plaza where you can walk around see some of the sites, it's quiet, its absolutely gorgeous. My sister was very happy when the host asked her where she would like to sit, she said by a window, he immediately took her to a very nice spot with a big window she is special needs so that just tickled her pink!. When we was seated the waitress whose name was Jessenia, seem to have a nice personality her service was (slow coming, then put the food on the table and kept moving in one motion), she was out of place the whole time we were there let me give you an example: we ran out of salad dressing for our salads and so she was nowhere to be found to get another salad dressing and it took us about 12 minutes to get the replacements, next thing is when we received our dinner the fries were dead cold she didn't come back so that we could tell her that our fries were cold she stayed away another 10 minutes, when she did come back she had the nerve to ask us do you want some hot ones, shouldn't that be automatic that we would want hot fries with our food, the ultimate thing was I ordered a Bahama Mama and I asked for that Bahama Mama to be brought with my meal, guess when the Bahama Mama was brought to me? When I finished all my food, she brought the hot fries and the Bahama mama all at the same time, I was livid, talk about bad service!! the only thing that I could say that I really enjoyed about this was the manager, who not only paid for my drink but also gave me a free cheesecake which was delicious, she was a good manager and knew what to do to make amends for a bad waitress who did not come back to see about the patron, I will go back to this Harry's seafood and bar but I will not in any way want this waitress who took too long with everything. I will definitely give Laurels to that manager because she kept the two stars from being...
Read moreFirst, a review for the bathroom: Interesting. I have to first thank the waiter who probably saw the panic in my eyes and asked if I was looking for the bathroom. Then, the signs on the doors: Po'boys and Po'girls. Very funny. The doors slammed shut quite loudly, so be gentle when you go in. Three stalls were visible, and at least two of the toilets were halfway flushed. I later learned that it simply requires multiple flushes (or perhaps a persistent push on the button, accessed by my having to lift my leg higher than I'd prefer), so I understand why those toilets still had paper in them. The music (electro, elevator music) was very loud, I almost could not hear my thoughts. The doors have those panels/screens/blinds that are fixed such that you can see into the stall if you were an ant on the ground. I did not feel relaxed by this experience. The tap was automatic, so that's nice (and warm, but weak). Soap smells decent. Interesting light fixtures. The hole in the counter that's meant as a chute for the paper towels is just a liiiittle misaligned from the trash can. Eh. Overall, the bathroom was an underwhelming, but suitable space.
Okay, now: the food. The crab soup is quite lovely, especially at the first bite(sip?). Warm and crab-y and complex. My eyes felt opened, though I suppose it's my taste buds that really did. Delicious. Very creamy. I remember eating/picking out bits of crab shell/cartilage, which I liked since that means it's real crab! (Like shrimp, crab is better with the shell on.) Lovely soup. But drink it fast before it cools. The creaminess becomes a deadweight once it's no longer hot, and the beauty of the crab becomes overtaken by the excessive sweetness. Drink fast, don't get the big size since it'll definitely chill before you can finish it.
The green tomatoes are absolutely gorgeous in every sense, no qualifications, just pure delight. Good
Our waitress was nice, though perhaps a tad bit too familiar and slightly overwhelming, given that we are strangers, but I think most people would find...
Read moreMy family was taking my mom out for dinner for her 50th birthday and we called this place multiple times in advance, it’s 7:30 now and we called at 5:42,6:50, and at 7:10 to inform them that we was coming with a seven top and they said we would have a table and a free desert but they don’t do reservations to give them a heads up of about 30 minutes before we came in and we did at 6:50 and then again called at 7:10 and after arriving we was told we did not have a table or anything under our name including the desert and all. And afterwards told us there was nothing they could do and that we would have to wait. I hate to complain but I’ve worked in many restaurants in my life and never once has anyone ever called a restaurant I worked at and didn’t they the service they were offered on the phone. All being said I can see how busy a Friday night gets at any restaurant but they completely disregarded that we called multiple times and treated us as if we just walked in with a 20 top. No call or previous acknowledgement. But that’s not the case, and even after all this we decided that we would not let it ruin our mothers birthday dinner and decided to wait for a table to open and yet tables was being taken left and right that came before and after us. We ended up waiting 40 more minutes until we talked to the manager and she gave us a table pretty close after but overall the food wasn’t bad and after the initial conversation between us and the front desk girl...
