During my last trip to Keke's I had a very disappointing experience. While the food remains amazing, and may be one of the best breakfasts in Gainesville, and my server was exceptional, the prices have gone through the roof.
There was a blueberry stuffed french toast, 10.49$ and I asked if they could add bananas to it. I was told that it would be a small upcharge. However, they charged me an additional 5.49$, twice, for their "Create your own Stuffed French Toast Combo", which brought the total up to 21.47$, and somehow twice as expensive is equivalent to a "small upcharge." I added bacon and cheese to my home fries, and was charged an additional 2.99$, but when I reviewed the menu later, I realized that regular home fries as a side are 5.49$, and bacon and cheddar home fries are 7.49$ only a 2$ difference, so why was I charged 2.99$? In my opinion, it made no sense.
One of our children, who is 8 years old and clearly a kid, ordered a large pancake and asked if he could have two at the restaurant. The server assured him that one pancake would be enough and was sufficient. Rather than paying the 5.49$ for a kid's pancake, my 8 year old son was charged 9.99$ for an adult pancake; it probably wouldn't have mattered to me (had I been told, since he did indeed receive an adult pancake, and finished it) but I was never informed about the charge.
Additionally, my wife and daughter also had additional charges on their meals. While minor, it was enough to bring our overall breakfast for our family of two adults, a teenager, and two children to nearly 108 dollars. This is bordering on outrageous.
The location and ambiance of the place are fantastic, and service and food has always been good, but I find that in good faith, I would have a hard time recommending it.
Especially regrettable was the fact that we had to leave after the meal (on a Monday morning) and I didn't observe my receipt until the following evening. Because of car issues, I didn't get back to the restaurant until Thursday. However, when I did return, I approached the manager on duty; and he promptly dismissed me. The person I spoke to didn't name themselves, but basically asked me why didn't you take care of this while you were here on Monday, and why are you asking for a refund days later (I never requested a refund, never even mentioned it, I just said I wanted to talk about the bill), and told me they were "very busy", which they were, and there was nothing he could do to help.
After feeling completely dismissed and treated poorly by the management team, I made up my mind to complain to corporate, something that rarely happens to me, and contacted their main franchising office. It has been two days since I made the request to Keke's Gainesville, and I haven't heard anything back from Keke's corporate or Keke's Gainesville.

I showed up and told the person at the hostess station I was there to pick up an online order and provided the person the order information. I then waited, and waited, and waited, once the pick up time window expired I waited a few more minutes then told another person at the hostess station to refund the order then I simply left. Shortly after I left I called the restaurant to confirm they would be refunding the order. The person I spoke with did identify herself as a manager on duty. I asked this person if the order would be refunded or if I would need to dispute the charge. She responded by trying to push back, I did cut her off (they had already waisted enough of my time) and stated that I did not call for a debate, I just needed an answer to my question, she hung up. I called back to again find out whether the order would be refunded the same person answered and stated "you are being disrespectful to me, we are done", hung up again. So to be clear, I used NO curse words, no insults, and although my tone was firm (rightfully so) I did not raise my voice. When a customer pays upfront for a product and a level of service and does not receive that product or level of service I would say that is more a kin to the definition of "disrespectful". I do feel terrible about how this manager on duty is going to feel when someone ACTUALLY disrespects her. After all this non sense I simply called the 3rd party that powers kekes online ordering and had them issue the refund.

Read moreDisappointed is all I can say, we first went in may of 2022 for a birthday breakfast and it was so perfect I gave a five star rating on google ,but apparently the quality of the food was not the same, our waffles and pancakes were dry and overcooked or my request for extra crispy bacon was chewy raw and undercooked my eggs were over cooked with no yolk , portion sizes of the potatoes were much smaller had little to no onion or flavor,and the lovely fresh fruit was replaced with a syrupy sauce, we had to ask for fruit and it was a very small portion, atmosphere and friendliness of staff was not same as our first visit in may, children were not recognized with a greeting or given kids menus with crayons this time, bathrooms were so so dirty! Toilet paper thrown all over floors trash cans smeared with goop, kitchen staff was very loud and unprofessional all around you could hear them carrying on, last time before I was so impressed at the clear glass and how professional everyone looked but not this time maybe manager wasn’t there on Sunday? I was embarrassed after highly recommending to my family for so long after having such a pleasant experience and then to go and see such a difference.. really disappointing!
