The best kept (not so) secret in Gainesville! I drove through town and ventured off the main road away from the chains and found a place that will force me to come back! The staff took their time explaining in detail the coffees and pastries and got me setup with an iced carmel coffee that I’m still thinking about 24 hours later. I judge all pastry shops on the basic sugar cookie and Sweet Jayne handed me a rich, soft golden cookie with the right hint of lemon that makes me want to slap my pappy! I also tried the raisin pecan and lemon raspberry bar. Everything in this place will make you question your grandmothers talent! I also got the pleasure of talking with the owner as she was trying new homemade items to possibly put on the menu. I got the strong impression that I may have found perfection, but she never will. She explained that she makes every item from scratch every morning - nothing is brought in. No wonder it’s sooo good! She threw in an oatmeal cream pie just because I said hello. Hello all! I want to extend my appreciation to Carri and the Sweet Jayne Gang for their dedication to perfection and service to the community. I have NEVER had a bad experience at Sweet Jayne’s. The love and dedication that goes into every treat, cup of coffee, or the delicious meals they make is amazing! On a different note, I want to boast about the beautiful and delicious cake that Carri made for my wedding on August 10th, 2024. Carri was given free rein with a few small parameters that we collaborated on. My beautiful bride and I saw the cake for the first time when we walked into the wedding venue. We were astounded by Carri’s creation! It was a masterpiece in our eyes! I cannot thank Carri enough for what she did for us that day.
