Let me start by saying this is the best chicken and waffles I have ever had. We recently moved to Kentucky over the summer and frequent the VA Medical Center in Nashville and Gallatin and our our daughter lives in Lebanon, TN. So we wanted to meet for lunch before we head back to Bowling Green and I am so glad I found Martin's Chicken and waffles.
They have the absolute friendliest staff and won't find better customer service anywhere. The owners / chef came out to talk with us, make sure everything was OK and staff were consistently refilling drinks, answered all our questions and made us feel like we were part of their family.
On to the food - The best way I can describe this secret recipe Belgian waffle is "luscious". It truly was and was airy and creamy at the same time inside and had the perfect crunch on the outside. The flavor was unlike any waffle I tasted with hints of flavors you will recognize but can't quite put your finger on it. All I can tell you is that it is unlike any waffle I ever had and better than any waffle I ever had and would make the drive to Martin's in TN from Bowling Green, KY to have it again.
On to the chicken. Wife and daughter had the same thing with chicken tenders but I opted for the Nashville Hot Wings. The outside of both the tenders and the wings were so crunchy, even with all the Hot Nashville liquid all over them, the wings still absorbed the sauce and still stayed crispy. I can't even begin to tell you what it was like to bite into to those wings. And you get the drum and wing still attached together in each piece. SO, you actually are getting 6! Even for $15, this is a lot of food. I had one whole wing and a 1/4 of my waffle left and brought it home after a few other stops. By that time the wing really had enough time to soak up all the Nashville Hot juice and it was still as crispy as when it first came out.
The food quality and flavor is top notch as is the service. Getting that hot Nashville juice all over the chicken and waffle and dousing with the syrup and butter they give you provide that sweet, savory and heat all at the same time for a one giant flavor explosion.
The husband is a veteran and they also offer a 10% discount for veterans. Thank you for your service sir and thank you for honoring vets with the discount. I truly cannot wait to go back again. I wanted to try the banana pudding but they were sold out.

Read moreMartin's is one of those local, family owned restaurants that has the potential to be a local staple. The service is good and the the servers truly care about your satisfaction. Their menu consists of some classic southern comfort food with a few nice twists on traditional items. That said if you have to start somewhere start with the pasta bowls. The homemade cheese sauce is very good and the pasta was cooked al dente. It was topped with a hand breaded chicken tender which was juicy and flavorful. The portion was very generous as well (true for all the items we ordered). The chicken and waffles were very good as well. Brought out fresh with home made waffles and Nashville hot tenders coated in a homemade sauce. The sauce itself was a little more oily than i would have preferred but flavor and spice were good. Lastly we tried the Nashville fried burger.... Yes.... Fried.... Burger. It is a juicy and well seasoned beef patty that is hand breaded and deep fried. Then it is dipped in the house Nashville hot sauce and topped off with their homemade cheese sauce, pickles and onions. This was not a healthy meal.... But man was it tasty. The burger had a satisfying crunch and the cheese sauce gave it a great creamy balance to the hot sauce.if i could change one thing it would be an upgrade to the bun. It would be awesome to see something homemade and more dense but if not any upgrade would be welcome.
Overall we will be coming back to Martin's soon and looking to try a few other items but if you are in the area and looking for some comfort food i...
