Tried Salvos out today and was very impressed. As they say, the pizza is either by the slice or you can order a whole pie. What we tried: Mozz Sticks - very good, cheese tasted high quality and the batter on the outside was thin yet crispy. Must try! Whole Pepperoni Pizza - great crust, very thin and actually crispy. I was shocked it held it's crispiness the entire time. Truly impressive, i do not believe there is a pizza place in town that has such a great crisp to the crust. Sicilian Pepperoni Pizza Slice - fantastic! The dough was super airy and also had a great crisp on the bottom. Great size slice for only $6. In all, the sauce wasn't too loud, had great flavor and excellent consistency.
Now the things I wasn't crazy about - not deal breakers, but worth mentioning. If you are paying with a credit card there is an automatic 3.5% service charge. So, take cash to avoid that. Climate was a tad warm, a little cooler and it would have been perfect. Granted, we did sit by the wall across from the pizza ovens, so I am sure that played a part. Pepperoni, not my favorite of all time - couldn't put my finger on it but it reminded me of Digiorno pepperoni, Salvo's was better - just not the best I have had. Lastly - environment. Let me make it clear, the servers were very attentive and kind. However, the bickering that took place between the servers and the gentleman making the pizza was completely unprofessional. The tone he had with the servers was quite disappointing. If a pizza on the counter was ready to go he repeated over and over "pizza, pizza" - they were doing their best from what I could see. As someone who worked for many years in the restaurant industry I understand it's hot in there, you are working long hours etc. However, it is never ok to show or voice your frustration with your co-workers, especially when your customers can hear and see everything that is going on.
I will be back, because it is a great product and a great addition to Gallatin, just next time - I will be sitting near the front of...
Read moreWent to Salvos today and had an 11/10 experience! It’s not very spacious inside, which made me appreciate that the staff seat you instead of ordering and hoping for the best to get a seat after. I’d rather wait than be subjected to that kind of anxiety! However, despite a solid crowd, a table was open and no waiting necessary. The service was quick and efficient. The food was outstanding! I had a $6 slice of pizza and small Caesar salad. The Caesar salad rivaled, no - it beat other Caesar salads I’ve had at wayyyy more expensive restaurants. The romaine was crisp, the dressing was hearty, the shaved Parmesan was the chef’s kiss. The pizza was as perfect as a supreme pizza could be. My husband had the Stromboli and it could have fed us both. Other patrons, like myself, watched food coming out of the kitchen and we basically struck up a friendship just talking about what everyone was having. The couple next to us praised the lasagna, and on the other side, one guy barely came up for air as he devoured the chicken parmigiana. If I had to be picky about anything, it would be that our food didn’t come out at the same time. I think they deliver as it comes out of the oven. On that note, there’s a little bit of a wait for your food. You’ll be fine though. Listen to the crooners on the speakers and talk to your present company about something interesting - like Cracker Barrel’s new logo. Quit trying to rush a good thing. Lastly, I noticed quaint tables outside. I want to eat there on a cool summer evening while mocking the nearby gym bros who are pumping iron next door while I consume 100g of carbs. I hope the fabulous music is playing outside too because it definitely adds to the atmosphere. Good job, Salvo. Keep up...
Read moreI came here on a recommendation not knowing what to expect. If I could give it six stars I would.
When we walked in I noticed it was a small place. 15 tables I think and several were two seaters. However we had a hostess to seat us. A hostess in such a small place? Yep! And that was the beginning of a terrific experience. She sat us at a table with a smile the entire time. We looked at the menu in awe. What do we order? Pizza? Pasta? We decided on both! Our waitress came to take our order and she was amazing. Again all smiles with a bubbly personality. I told her that our order will require to-go boxes. She laughed and said it's a common thing. During our meal we had other waitresses check on us all with cheerful attitudes. Hands down top tier service the entire time.
And now the food. We ordered a supreme Sicilian and Homemade Beef Lasagna. Both are true Italian recipes. The pizza was huge with enough for 4+ people and tasted amazing. Their tomato sauce is very distinct and tasty. The next morning I had it cold out of the fridge. This made it in my top two of favorite pizza.
Now the lasagna. Everyone says their mother makes the best. Try theirs and you just might change your mind. I hate to say it but my Mom's is second now. Again, the tomato sauce. I can only imagine I will find better in Italy which is on my bucket list. Even reheated it's awesome.
I can't wait to try their fettuccine so I will...
