Pokemoto — Restaurant in Gallatin

I usually stick to a build-your-own poke bowl with tuna and salmon because it's so delicious. Fish is always fresh and melts in your mouth. I LOVE that you get so many topping choices included in the price ($15.99 for 3 protein scoops). Lots of other places charge extra for everything (some things are extra like guac, fish roe, etc. but not by much!), and they give you a lot of food in the bowl for the price you pay. I haven't found a better price on a good quality poke bowl. I have tried a few other places in surrounding towns and they just don't compare to Pokemoto! They aren't stingy with filling up your bowl so I feel I get my money's worth. I also get a few of the Musubi when they have those available at the counter - always fresh (confirmed they make them every 4 hrs) and just so so good. I've tried making them myself but they aren't quite as good as Pokemotos lol. Their Boba teas are also great, they have happy hour from 3pm-5pm on the bobas (50% off!) My only request is that they open a Pokemoto in Lebanon as I hardly get to Gallatin, but when I do, I always stop by this fabulous place! I've never had a poke bowl before, so I was a little hesitant to try it at first, but I'm very glad I did! A gentleman from Pokemoto stopped by my workplace and gave me and my coworkers some handouts with a coupon attached. Having a coupon was what spurred me to finally try the poke bowl place that my friends had been raving about!

My fiance and I went in, and we were greeted with a friendly "Aloha!" The employee who made our bowls was very kind and patient, and she was very helpful and knowledgeable of the ingredients. She let me sample some of the protein ingredients and I decided to get the lobster salad as my protein. I added a lot of toppings, and all the ingredients in the poke bowl tasted incredibly fresh! I loved the Wasabi sauce! My fiance got a Signature bowl that had shrimp in it, and he loved it too!

My fiance also ordered matcha boba tea. He said I could try some...I drank half of it 😂 It was so tasty!

Nice place, and the restrooms were CLEAN! Wish every restaurant had bathrooms like this… well done! The reason I had to knock it down one star was because it’s obvious the staff lacks training. A good poke bowl requires balance and an understanding of different flavors, but the staff hasn’t been trained on the concept of finesse. One of our bowls got darn near a lb of spicy mayo squirted on it before we could say “STOP!” Very heavy handed, and that was the bowl my kid was ordering which of course ended up way too spicy for him. Same with the toppings like seaweed salad… a little goes a long way flavor wise, but the employees just dump it on. In the end a bowl that could be a 9 out of 10 ends up a 6 or 7 instead. Many customers need guidance with ingredients and sauces they’ve never tried before. Please train your staff to appreciate the different nuanced flavors that go into a well balanced poke bowl! This isn’t fast food! Train them to communicate with customers how much they would like of an ingredient, but also train them to suggest a proper amount if needed.
