Wow! a new favorite! Staff was polite and available but not hovering. We went around 11:30 and by the time we left the lunch crowd was pouring in. Was a little pricey compared to La Estacion and El Jardin but service was super fast, food cooked to order, served piping hot and was delicious. Plus there was a huge amount! Homemade tortillas were buttery and not too thick or thin. Husband had huevos rancheros and I had migas. Salsas, rojo and verde were homemade. The guacamole was creamy goodness. Homemade chips too. We’ll be back!
Went back today, we reversed our order and both enjoyed. Lots of food, enough for leftovers. Still yummy!
Update 2/14/2021: Props to Bambu, although a couple of days late. They close at 2:30 and we walked in behind two others at 2:25 last Sunday before Icepocalypse. They welcomed us in and did not hover or hurry us. We had steaming hot, generous portions of huevos rancheros, migas and corn tortillas. For under $20!!! Third time we’ve been and never disappointed.
Went yesterday and I had the Barbacoa Gordita ($5), Husband had the barbacoa Street tacos ($7). We could have easily split either and been full. Barbacoa was excellent, well done and not fatty! The gorditas came with a salad and guacamole. Delish!!
12/10/21. We’re officially regulars! Today I strayed from the Huevos Rancheros and got the BEC breakfast burrito because I wanted less food. Not! $4.95 for this delicious monster burrito pictured below.
1/6/25. We go here at least every other week and today we finally had caldo! Husband had beef I had chicken, the small is plenty. You can add jalapeños or avocado but we did not. Full of zucchini Squash, carrots, yellow squash, cabbage, potatoes lots of broth and meat. I added...
Read moreWow, I can't believe the horrible service at this highly rated restaurant. There was no greeting (good morning) upon walking in. The lady made eye contact with me, but didn't speak.
Eventually, she came over and asked "Can I help you?". I asked if I could have a burrito with only eggs, cheese and potatoes but not all scrambled together in one skillet.
She rolled her eyes and told me no (little to my surprise). I explained to her even though the three would be together in the tortilla, I didn't like my food cooked and mashed together. Also, I asked her why did she did roll her eyes at me because it was rude.
I asked for the manager, which she said wasn't there (of course). Then she asked me if I wanted the food or not. I asked her again if they could cook everything separately and she walked off.
I heard her saying something to the staff, but couldn't understand it. She came back and said they can do it, so do you want it or not?!
NOT...NO...NEVER!! Never will I spend money where customer service is poorly being given.
There was absolutely no reason for her attitude towards me. I never once was rude or disrespectful to her.
I get that it's early Monday morning, but be thankful that you woke up this morning and and have a job to go to. A lot of people didn't wake up this morning and a lot of people are unemployed.
Hopefully, the Manager sees this and makes it a teachable moment for her.
I hope she sees this and realizes that she just missed a blessing.
Have A Great Day!

Read moreFriendly staff, Awesome food and great prices!. A great place for breakfast in Galveston!
Most breakfast places are disappointing, but every now and then you get a pleasant surprise. That is what we got when my family and I visited Ocampo's this morning. The building is not much to look at and the interior decor is not impressive, but the food is true to it's authentic Mexican roots. I had the Ocampo Burrito (only $3.50) and it was awesome. It was more then I could eat (I weigh 220 pounds). The extra large extra thick hand made tortillas are the best I have had north of the Mexican border and their home made cooked salsa is to die for. The little bowl of salsa they brought out to begin with vanished in a few seconds and they had to bring a cereal bowl full of the stuff for us to finally get enough. My wife had the Barbacoa and it great as well. The other members had Heuvos Rancheros and Huevos a la Mexicana and they were all great as well. The staff prefers Spanish (not a problem for me, since I am fluent) but they do understand English.
About the only down side was that it was crowded and the tables were pretty close, but you have to expect that with a place that is this good and cheap. They could stand with some sound dampening furnishing, because it is quite noisy, but I will be back for breakfast every time I am...
