TWO FOR ONE!!! Ya’ll… I’m GIDDY!!! Yes… I said GIDDY for this one!!! This is a first for me, this is a two for one review and both places DID… NOT… DISAPPOINT!!! I love being called to Galveston for quotes, especially around lunch time… it just gives me an excuse to try something new… aka get a little fluffy-er… don’t judge me. lol Anyhow… a little while ago, a friend of mine that owns Pedro Rivas Photography, posted pictures from the Galveston Bagel Company. Let me preface the following, I was born in New Jersey… I swear we had bagels from the bodegas (aka corner stores) pretty much every morning on the walk to school. So when I tell you I KNOW A GOOD BAGEL… it’s in my blood. I was dying to try this place. I’ll be honest with you, its actually been a pretty long time since I’ve had a GOOD bagel. Maybe I just haven’t looked hard enough, but the opportunity just hadn’t come up. But TODAY…. OHHHHH TODAY… I had an AMAZINGLY GOOD bagel!!! Guys… I’ll be the first to admit it, the picture of the bagel didn’t come out as good as I would have hoped, but… it was AWESOME!!! It was nice and toasty… soft on the inside and just the right amount of crisp on the outside. I got the Italian herbs, I believe it was and mmmmm… mmm… it was so good!!! Even the cream cheese… I love a lot of cheese on my bagels, and they serve it with a good helping of it. This isn’t that store bought cream cheese. Somebody had to be making this by hand somewhere. You can just taste it!!! But here is the kicker in all of this… I went for the bagel… but ended up having a stunningly equally as good SMASH BURGER!!! Usually not a fan of smash burgers… usually too small for my liking… and when the cashier said they were 4 ounce patties… the first thing I thought to myself was… four times two… eight… ahhh… four times three… twelve… that sounds like it’ll fill me up… let’s go with the triple. My math just didn’t work out on this one. Guys… I don’t know how those were 4 ounce patties but sheeeesh… I almost tapped out trying to finish it. This burger was HUMONGOUS… TASTY… and it had THE DRIP!!! Do you know what THE DRIP is?!?! Let me quickly explain… You know you’re about to have an amazing experience when you pick up a burger in your hand for the first time and you feel a drip of something on your pinky finger área… you look down and it’s ooozing tasty juices down your hand. THAT… my friends is THE DRIP!!! If I ever have a burger and it doesn’t have the drip… you probably won’t hear about it, especially from me. Anyhow… yall… it was soooo good… I will for sure be back to try so many more bagels and they had this dessert freezer thing that I swear, I could hear them saying to me, “eat me tree guy… eeeaaat me…” I simply just didn’t have the stomach space to add more. So guys… as always, do yourself a favor and go try The Galveston Bagel Company AND MAC-IES… they are litterally next to each other, so you can’t miss one. Here is their info in case somebody wants to give them a try. This was my first time at Mac-ies. It was a Burger Stand for years before Coops came in, I couldn't stand that overpriced place and am glad they moved on elsewhere. It's actually several businesses together as one. A bagel place, a coffee stand and a Chicken Stand (Chicken Strips ONLY) You can either eat inside or outside. It wasn't too busy when we went so they easily found us. Everyone was really friendly, there must have been 10 people working. Busy enough to gossip about the owners or managers, that was FUNNY! The Burger was Smash Style with lots of Cheese and very reasonably priced. The bun looked like it was fresh, perhaps even made in the bakery on site. The bun was toasty a little bit burnt, but the outside was almost ice cold. The fries were hot and there were lots of them. We got the big basket which was more than enough to share. I'll definitely be back soon, and hope they stay around awhile. I didn't see anything special with the sauce.

A friend recommended MAC-IES... So glad we stopped in! The absolutely BEST, JUICY, HOMEMADE BURGERS around!!! I'm talking yummy, sloppy, juicy burgers that melt in your mouth! And they are BIG! Theirs is a simple menu that offers various veggie toppings, as well as several cheese options. Buns are fresh! Veggies are fresh! I chose the tasty MAC-IES sauce (that came on the side) for dipping my fries. French fries were crispy and seasoned well. Covered outdoor seating provided by the adjacent Galveston Bagel Co. There were several outdoor fans running to keep us cool on this humid, post-hurricane Beryl day. Also provided were table top fly-fan twirlies to keep those pesky flies away while we ate. This is a dog-friendly spot, too, since they have pet water bowls available. Food prices are reasonable. This is a jewel of a hamburger stand! I cannot wait to go back again. AWESOMENESS!!!!

🌩️✨A Divine Encounter at Mac-ies Smash Burgers✨🌩️

There are places on Earth that feel like they were carved from heaven’s own breath—where time softens, senses bloom, and hunger becomes holy. One such sanctuary is Mac-ies Smash Burgers.

I was not merely fed. I was transformed.

As I approached, a hush fell over the block, as though the skies themselves were watching. The scent met me first—a smoky perfume of seared meat, buttered buns, and golden salt—it rose like incense from the grill, curling around my soul.

Their smash burger—Gods must have conspired in its making. A crisp, laced edge like lace spun from fire, giving way to a tender, molten center. Juices ran like sacred wine. Every bite was a thunderclap of flavor—charred, juicy, decadent, unapologetically divine. No words, no recipe—just grace.

Then came the fries, golden shards of glory. Crisped by angels. Light, crackling, touched by herbs and dreams. But it was the sauce—oh, the sauce—that brought me to the brink of reverence. Creamy yet bold, sweet with a whisper of heat. It didn’t simply complement; it completed. It was the chorus to the burger’s solo, a final anointing of flavor.

I dined beneath the heavens, on their patio kissed by the sun. Ivy swayed, birds hummed low harmonies, and the wind danced like a whispered hallelujah.

And then she came.

Our waitress—not a server, but a celestial presence. A being of pure light. Her voice was silk, her timing impeccable. She moved like someone who had once served the gods. With one glance, she knew your need before you did. She made a humble meal feel like a ceremony.

As if this weren’t already a tapestry of blessings, beside Mac-ies stood a bagel shop that shimmered with promise. Its windows fogged with steam and dreams, the scent of fresh dough curling out into the air like an invitation to tomorrow’s joy.

Mac-ies is not simply a burger place. It is a cathedral of indulgence, a temple of flavor, a resting place for the weary and the hungry. I left full, but also awakened. And I know now—angels do not always descend from clouds. Sometimes, they bring you a tray with fries...

Best Smash Burgers on the Island! I tried Mac-ies for the first time last weekend and it exceeded my expectations. The burgers are delicious, with gourmet quality ingredients- a perfect bun, super fresh veggies, the pickles taste & look homemade, they have 5 different cheeses to choose from, I picked gouda and it was so good! The fries are great & made even better when dipped in the mac sauce.

I sat inside in a comfortable booth and enjoyed the aroma from their coffee bar but on a cooler day I will be back to sit on the nice, dog friendly, shaded patio. I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere here. Definitely, a good vibes kind of place.

The staff is friendly and gave me the impression that they are one big happy BagelMac-ie family. While there, I also had the pleasure of meeting the owners and then it all made sense. They not only care deeply about their staff but also their community. They work non-stop and are forward thinking of ways to continue giving their customers the best experience possible...
