I moved back to the island in April after a 20 year hiatus and couldn't wait to get to my favorite mexican food joints and boy I was disappointed the Mom and Pop must have passed away the service was lousy most of the tables we're dirty and all of them had bad balinsing issues. We both ordered the same thing the enchiladas dinner, however they brought me out the fajita dinner I went ahead and ate it. It took 40 minutes for the food to come we both ordered tea they never came and refilled the tea the food was cold and I only got one torrta for a half pound of beef the lettuce and tomato were wilting, I used to love there refried beans they would use the bacon grease from breakfast and fry the beans in the bacon grease not anymore beans out of a can. Top it off I have reached the age that if you even hear or think about the rest room you better be ready for anything goes, sure enough I get to the facilities and it was filthy and you guessed it no paper in either restroom so there I am stranded on the toilet bowl my friend had to go to the family dollar store and get me a roll. I will give them another chance I am a retired CSM Us Army Airborne Ranger 26 years of service and it I I ran Central Command like some of these business we would have...

I have been coming to this restaurant since I was less than 2-months old. For nearly 3-decades their food has remained extremely consistent, amazingly delicious, and wonderfully affordable. I moved off the island a few years ago, but I make it a point to have a meal here every single time I come down. This is not a “fancy” establishment, but the food is superior to any other Mexican restaurant you will find in Galveston. Every person that I’ve recommended La Estacion to has been blown away.

I highly suggest their Surprise Breakfast Burrito, Juevos Rancheros, Chicken or Beef Quesadilla a la Mexicana, Crispy Chicken Taco’s, Beef or Chicken Soup, and their Chicken Flautas.

This restaurant makes you feel like family. Gloria and Flor are absolutely amazing people. If I could give this place 6-stars, I would in a heartbeat!

important note for first-timer's: you seat yourself and pay at the front counter. Chips and salsa are not served until 11am, but you can ask if they have any ready if you’re there before. Do yourself a favor and ask for a flour tortilla even if you...

Yo, this Place sucks. And this is comimg from un Mexicano! I looked up a place to eat and noticed that this restaurant was listed as one of the must go Mexican restaurants in Galveston. When I pulled up I noticed it was not very attractive, once I walked inside the whole place threw me off. But I thought, maybe it was just one of those hole in the walls that have good food. I was wrong. It was just a hole. I don't know how or why this place has business, maybe from an older reputation or something. The salsa was watered down no taste no spice. I ordered a water with lemon, they gave me limes, which is not a big deal. I ordered two tacos a fajita and it was served with yellow cheese and lettuce. All my Mexicans know we like our tacos with onions and cilantro, first of all. The fajitas had no taste and were chewy . The service was not attentive and it wasn't busy inside with two tables being occupied and three people at the bar, which has no alcohol. There's no reason to ever come here unless there is some sort of famine and this is the only place...

Very reasonable, family owned, delicious food, favorite of locals. We’ve only had breakfast; Migas and huevos rancheros. We do see folks eating huge bowls of caldo. Decor is unassuming as is the building but the food is top notch. The flour tortillas are homemade and humongous. I just discovered the huevos rancheros plata Chico, which has one egg, 2 pieces of thick bacon and refried beans. Only open till 2 or 3 daily. Go for Desayunos, pronto!! For scale, below is a full size dinner plate next to one of their tortillas.

Ordered a small bowl of Menudo and a barbacoa plate with potatoes and beans. It's hard to find good Menudo, and this was good. Personally, I love spicy Menudo. This was not spicy, but I would definitely order this again. The barbacoa plate was just as good, too. As the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover. It's not a pretty place, but I will always pick good food over atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I am not from the area, but this is definitely a recommendation, and I will be back.

Was taken here for breakfast after going to the Farmer's Market. It was crowded but the wait was not long. Very friendly staff. Even though they were very busy, they always had a smile. They did their best to wipe down the tables and get orders taken due to the crowd. My eggs were very fresh and flavorful. The red sauce was good. The tortillas were huge and very fresh. My refried beans were more watery than I prefer, but overall everything was good.
