We have been going to Gaido's in Galveston for our wedding anniversary every year since 2015 that we can remember. We have never ever encountered a problem... Until last night, now, don't get me wrong, the food was fabulous, the place is great!!! But our server, Kevin, was just not 100% in it for us?!?! He didn't tell us the specials of the day, he only checked on us a few times, he didn't box my food, like they normally do, he didn't give me a bag for my food, we had to ask him for finger bowls... But the biggest thing that really got to us, we put into our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary... He never asked us once if we were there for any special reason... When we were done, he asked us, did we want dessert or just the check?? Didn't ask us again if we were celebrating anything special, we had to tell him 3 or 4 times, that we were there celebrating our wedding anniversary, that we come there every year, but only once a year (due to distance and cost) ... But he just seemed very disinterested in us... The managers came by our table and they were the ones that offered to take our picture after he dropped off our complementary dessert and walked away... This was the first time ever that we had an experience that the waiter was not in the game... But the kicker, the table behind us, he gave them the royal treatment.... So why did we not get his 100%?? We still gave him a very generous tip .. Over 20% First time ever I left somewhat...
Read moreWe had planned to eat elsewhere for dinner but glad we came across the recommendation to eat at Gaido's on reddit because we would've missed out on the BEST dinner and BEST service with Dwayne. We were sat early for our reservation which is always fantastic. Dwayne was very quick to great our table and let me tell you, this man is knowledgeable about every entree they serve, their operations, what is and isn't available due to what's in season, etc. They bring out bread that is baked in house and it is UNREAL! I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was the best shrimp and grits I believe I've ever had, so amazing! My husband ordered the crab stuffed shrimp and asparagus and we nearly passed out because it was that good. We also got a side order of the shrimp stuffing balls—think hushpuppies stuffed with shrimp. They were fantastic! Creme Brulee for dessert was also great. Portions were perfect, we didn't finish anything. Price was honestly under what we expected and spent less than $90 for 2 entrees, side order of stuffing balls, and dessert. Environment was fantastic and I so much to look at in there! We can't wait to come back and hopefully get Dwayne!
Management, if you see this, please let Dwayne know he provided top tier experience and really made our dining experience...
Read moreThe food was absolutely amazing. Jamie served both my mom and me. We ordered the crabmeat cheesecake and was given their peppercorn cheddar bread with olive oil and Italian herbs while we waited for the cheesecake to come out. The cheesecake was delicious and it was topped with their creole sauce which is the same base they use for their gumbo. I ordered the shrimp and grits because I was very intrigued by the blue cheese grits. They do recommend ordering if you really like blue cheese, and I can understand. It wasn’t an overwhelming blue cheese taste but a very nice touch of it. You can tell they use a high quality blue cheese. The grits were so creamy as well. My mom ordered their wahoo, which was the catch of the day. It was cooked over an open flame and topped with crab and some veggies. It came with two different sauces; one seemed like a tartar butter sauce and one seemed like it was a mustard base. It was also served with rice and asparagus. She enjoyed her dish very much. Jamie was so personable and I enjoyed having the chance to meet her and talk with her. If I come back to Galveston I will definitely be back to...
