I’ve made three visits to Queen’s and have never been disappointed. This visit didn’t rate the 5 stars they usually score and I’ll tell why below. Queen’s has a bar for those who need beer with your Q. And it’s a pretty complete BBQ menu you have to pick from. This time Judy ordered a pulled pork loaded baked potato and I ordered an au jus loaded baked potato with a sausage add on. Big. We both took half home. Neither of our potatoes were steaming hot or even hot like you’d expect baked potatoes. They were warm enough to enjoy and we didn’t complain. The pulled pork potato was smothered in a sauced pulled pork. Hard to judge the taste of the pork but you could get a taste sometimes but the sauce was tasty being of just the right heat and sweetness and other saucy nuances we all like. The other part of the load — scallion, butter, sour cream, shredded cheddar — good and fresh. The not-hot potato couldn’t melt the cheese well tho. The au jus potato was topped with all the loaded ingredients and then with 4 slices of good tender barked brisket. Nice. The sausage was diced over all. Then the whole was doused in beef au jus. The sausage was mistake. It was a mistake to dice it and a mistake to order it since it was garlicky like polish sausage and didn’t have the smoky flavor I wanted. Will I go back? H**l yes. But if you go do your own saucing in your pulled pork and all your other meats too.

First time trying this place and was really disappointed. I called in an order for two brisket baked potatoes. Once I got to the restaurant I realized the baked potatoes were way smaller than most bbq places so I decided to add a couple of sides. Much to my disappointment, almost everything I asked for was sold out. No cornbread, no cobbler, no dirty rice, no greens and the didn’t even have any brisket. Now I understand many bbq places sell out as they don’t want to over produce and have waste. However, this was early afternoon and they still have about 5 hours before closing time. Now the most disappointment was after we got home and discovered these little potatoes were hardly even warm which I see other customers have mentioned. The cheese and butter were not even melting and we only live 4 minutes away from the restaurant. The “Gouda” Mac and cheese was dry, unseasoned and flavorless. I will say the staff was super nice and friendly when I was in the store as well as when I called back to voice my concerns. Jesse took my call and agreed to refund us for the potatoes. Great customer service goes a long way but can’t save a restaurant with poor quality food.

Update 11/23/22: I heard that Queens BBQ had changed owners so I wanted to see what changes were being made. First, they haven't changed the interior too much. They added a bar in the back room and also installed a long wall couch with tables. But a big change was that they removed the old menu boards over the ordering counter. After all those years of knowing that board, it was a little confusing without them. But to my surprise, they have a whole new menu (on the counter) and they've kept some of the original items. Smart move! I had to try something new. The cashier was super nice and pointed me to the "Texas Drip." That was a delicious sandwich! HUGE and messy. Really no polite way to eat it. But darn good brisket. The smoked jalapeño queso corn was also a hit...crazy good! Good to see they kept the Queens Chili, so going back to try their Frito Pie. Look, I know folks don't like change, but from what I had, the food and service was great. Give the new owners a chance. Previous review: I really like this place. I've tried just about everything on their menu over the years. Fast service too.

Divinely engineered for the Queen herself in 1966, this is no ordinary sandwich. The World Famous Turkey Cliffhanger is a masterful monument of sensational culinary composition that took the 20th century by storm. To behold such a majestic symphony of flavor in its colossal construction of double-breasted turkey bound by the warmth of interlaced jalapeno jack cheddar cheese is to bring holy salvation to the messiah. The risqué addition of peppery Texas cut bacon was the Queens secret which couldn’t be hath kept from noble man. So eloquently situated between the craftmanship of the Queens buns is a centrifugal clash of balanced marination between its Ranch sauce and the comradery of its green onions. These sweet buns are bottom rubbed with butter and lightly griddled to a gastronomic delight. For the Turkey Cliffhanger is not just any masterpiece nor work of art, it is a transcendental cliffhanging experience to be had every Thursday special from 11am to 8pm.

I had to stop and try some authentic BBQ when in Texas, so Queen's Bar-B-Que was my choice after doing a bit of research and getting some recommendations. I arrived not long before they closed, but was treated to some amazing cue! I settled on their Brisket plate, with their classic cole slaw and ham hock collard greens as my sides. The brisket had an amazing flavour, was juicy and tender. I enjoyed it without their sauce, but did try their sauce which was delightful as well, but the brisket didn't need it at all. The classic coleslaw was creamy and delicious. I personally wasn't a huge fan of the ham hock collard greens though as I found that there was just too much liquid with them as well as the ham hock being a little chewier than expected. There was so much brisket that I ended up taking some back to the hotel with me. If I'm ever back in Galveston, I'll definitely be making a point of stopping at Queen's Bar-B-Que again!

We passed this hidden hole in the wall completely by accident after taking the “scenic route” to the water park. The smell of BBQ as we drove by was legit and we knew where we would be having dinner! One word, WOW! As a self-proclaimed BBQ snob I have to say, these guys nail it! We ordered the fried pickles, Texas Drip and Chopped Brisket baked potato. The fried pickles were the best we have ever had. The Texas Drip… DAMN! And the baked potato did not disappoint! After giving some much-deserved complements to the manager, they offered a sample of their smoked turkey. Ok, I do not even like turkey and let me tell you, I will order the Turkey Cliffhanger next time! Price reflects the quality and portions, staff was nice, atmosphere was quaint. Queens BBQ will now be a required destination every time we hit the island! Thank ya’ll for the amazing dinner and great conversation. We will see ya’ll next time.
