Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Garden City

I have food handlers certification and this place does poorly with temps. You will be eating at your own risk! I work for a delivery service Costa Vida has chosen to use. I am fed up with these workers hiding orders!!! There is a rack with a huge sign above it saying pickup, delivery, mobile. There is also a paper note someone printed saying do not take orders. They do not keep to-go orders up on the clearly labeled rack. The employees hide the orders in the back where they can't be seen. This causes people to wait around while the orders go below safe serving temperature. I waited +15 minute while everyone in drive thru and all people in line were served with no sign of anyone working on the delivery order. When I finally got someone to pay attention to me they told me the order was finished. FOR HOW LONG!?!?!! I couldn't accept the old cold order to deliver to someone who pays extra for delivery. I'd be mad as heck to be delivered expensive gross food. This is unacceptable! Get it together and start treating all people coming in equally. Your delivery people do not get paid wait time. We are not hourly workers so when you mess with experienced drivers we will quickly deny all orders from your restaurant. You can also count on me to never be a customer at this location. I was so stoked when I saw a Costa Vida was being built so close to my house WITH A DRIVE THRU! I’ve enjoyed Costa Vida for years and this is definitely a fabulous location for one. The service through the drive thru was quick and efficient.

I’m hoping this is just due to it being so new... but the quality of the food wasn’t what I’ve come to expect from Costa. The tortillas were burnt and the portions didn’t seem to be on par with other the locations. When I’m paying $6.99 for a single taco I’m expecting much higher quality than what I received.

I also think charging $6.99 for a single taco is a little absurd... and since I asked for queso it because a $7.99 single taco... so that’s also added to my frustration as well. Also the 2 taco plate that comes with rice and beans is $8.99 so I really don’t understand why a single taco without beans and rice cost so much...

Overall I’m not completely displeased and will likely return. I really hope the quality issue...

Im writing this review because while I really enjoy costa Vida food, I witnessed some mean behavior among staff that I believe needs to be addressed. A middle aged Hispanic woman was on the front of the line, and a younger gentleman on the second half. I ordered a salad and asked for melted cheese on it, and she said that was the next part of the line. However, I watched her put multiple orders through the oven to melt cheese. I asked again just to verify and she repeated herself. Then, when my order came up to the guy I explained, and he looked at her because it was clearly her job. She looked to him with disdain and said "here is the cheese and we have an oven, you can do it." or something to that effect. This then held up my order and 2 people in line had to go around me.
