Zipz Bear Lake — Restaurant in Garden City

This review pertains solely to burgers

I've been going to Bear Lake my whole life and there has always been our go-to burger restaurant (The Handsome's next door). Now, the idea that I would get a burger (or sandwich) from any place other than Zipz is utterly absurd.

The first burger I tried here was the basic Cheeseburger with bacon, and they did something I didn't expect -they raised the bar on what this seemingly simple burger could be. This was achieved by: A perfectly cooked 1/3 pound patty that was juicy and full of flavor. This was grilled with a thick slice of cheese that was melted just enough to combine with the patty but not so much that it wanted to slide off. The use of fresh vegetable ingredients which were placed not only in abundance, but placed such that each bite would contain a portion of their natural goodness. Their Zipz spread, an in-house condiment of sheer delight which pairs seamlessly with their burgers. I heard someone compare it to In-N-Out's spread, but I view this as a disservice to Zipz because their sauce far outperforms the competition in terms of flavor, texture, and how well it pairs with their food. They used a brioche bun which is always going to elevate a burger to the next level. The bacon wasn't unique in any way and I would have appreciated more, but even in its basest form bacon is good. In short, this burger made me reevaluate the scale upon which I measure burgers. Hats off to all involved.

I also enjoyed the Bear Lake Muenster Burger, a sublimely unique flavor profile, which masterfully combined spicy, sweet, salty, and savory flavors. Be warned that this is a very messy burger, but the enjoyment I experienced blinded me to this fact until I was finished.

I'll be hard pressed when it comes to deciding between this and the bacon cheeseburger. Their Bacon Cheeseburger has attained the pinnacle of its potential, but the Muenster Burger is alone, totally unique in my experience, and worthy...

Sauce Selection: One standout feature was the diverse selection of sauces available. The variety of options allowed us to customize our dishes to our liking, and it's always a pleasure to have choices.

Menu Highlights: We tried the chicken nugget basket, which was generously portioned and thoroughly satisfying. The cheeseburgers were a true highlight and, in my opinion, outshined the neighboring restaurant's offerings.

Longtime Visitors Rejoice: As longtime visitors to Bear Lake, we were delighted to discover this new dining spot. It's always refreshing to have new places to explore, and this one did not disappoint.

Friendly Staff: The smiling faces of the staff made the experience even more enjoyable. Their warmth and attentiveness added a personal touch to our visit.

Wide Variety of Sauces: I must also mention the wide variety of sauces available to try, adding another layer of flavor and customization to the meal. In summary, this restaurant is a hidden gem. It offers fantastic food, a unique dining setup, an impressive range of sauces, and friendly staff. We're delighted to have found such a wonderful place to eat during our visits to Bear Lake. We shared a double cheeseburger, sweet potato fries, tempura green beans, pineapple swirl dole whip and a huckleberry chiller.

The double cheeseburger was nestled between perfectly toasted buns, the patties juicy and packed with flavor. The gooey melted cheese added creamy richness that complemented the savory beef beautifully.

Sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, these fries offer a delightful sweetness that pairs wonderfully with a hint of salt. Each bite delivered a satisfying crunch followed by a burst of natural sweetness, making them irresistible from start to finish.

Tempura Green Beans - who knew that green beans could taste so good? Zipz that’s who!! They were crispy and delicious! Lightly battered and fried to perfection, they retain their freshness and snap while offering a satisfying crunch. Dip them in the sauce for an extra burst of happiness.

Pineapple Swirl Dole Whip - say what?!? Cool off and indulge with this tropical treat combines the refreshing tartness of pineapple with the creamy smoothness of vanilla decadent ice cream. Each spoonful is like a burst of sunshine, transporting you to that Caribbean oasis that Bear Lake has to offer.

Huckleberry chiller - this icy concoction blends tangy and sweet flavors of huckleberries into a refreshing beverage. You’ll savor the natural sweetness and slight tartness that make huckleberries so special.
