We had reservations to stay at all three of the condos that Water’s Edge offers, the Mountain View, Lake View and Grandview on July 9-12th 2020. When we arrived the condos were decorated well and their appearance was pleasing. However, as we were starting to make ourselves at home, we realized that one of the microwaves was not cleaned. I called Mike who was our contact person and told him about it. He came over and cleaned it, but while he was there we realized that the floors in that same condo had not been swept or mopped. Mike was witness to all of this. There was dirt, dried food and other things on the floor. He stated that he would have someone come and clean it, but at this point we were inspecting the other condos and found that the other condos had dirty floors. At this point we noticed that our grandkids feet were black, they had taken their shoes off and were walking on the floors. Mike suggested that he have his staff come back and clean for us. We were not confident in that decision and asked for him to bring cleaning supplies to us. As we were cleaning, I was taking pictures of how dirty things were and sending them to Mike asking for additional cleaning supplies. After cleaning for about 10 minutes, I realized that they had not kept their agreement to us, which was to provide us a safe place to stay. We needed to stay somewhere else. You would think as we are experiencing a pandemic, they would offer a clean place to stay, but they didn’t. I called Mike and asked him that if I found another place to stay, could I get my money back. Because Mike agreed that he would give me my money back, I went out and found another place to stay. We came back to Water’s Edge to pick up our things and I called Mike and told him that I found a place to stay and I was ready for him to process my refund. Mike’s reply to me was, “I never told you that you could have my money back. The only way that you can have my money back is if the resort finds someone else to rent the condos for the nights that we had reserved”. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! I honestly could not believe my ears. He completely changed his story after we had committed to go elsewhere. We went back and forth and I finally asked to speak to his supervisor. Well his supervisor told me that if Mike had told me that I could have my money back that he did not have the authority to do so. To make a long short, the website makes this look like a large, developed condo complex when in fact, the 3 units we had reserved were the only units in the complex. The visual implication from the website that there is a beach at this site is completely false. It is a muddy swamp that nobody would want to step foot onto. Couple that with the filthiness we experienced, and the broken promise of a fulI refund, I don’t know why anyone would want to do business...
Read moreFalse advertising on Water's Edge Resort at Bear Lake. I do not want another family to make the same mistake we did so I will share our experience we just had this weekend. We have stayed in condos at Bear Lake as an annual family vacation. We have paid around $200 per night for beautiful condos with beautiful views. We chose to pay the higher price of over $300 to stay at Water's Edge for the soul purpose that it had access to the beach. When we arrived the first thing we checked was the beach access. There is NO BEACH! There is mud, weeds, swampy grass, and rocks. There is enough ground to launch a kayak but that is all you would want to do from this condo. This is only phase 1 of the planned resort. However, there is no beach to make this an attractive place to stay. The water level was higher than other years we have come to Bear Lake but I still wouldn't want my children playing in the swampy, mud.
The condo is a nicely decorated, clean place to stay. It has plenty of room for 5 people. However, I would not pay over $200 per night. It is located on the busiest road in Garden City and so you will hear all the traffic at night and early in the morning. We had a mountain view out the deck but it certainly isn't worth more than $200. One television has satellite tv but all of the other tvs are smart tvs and do not work well because of bad internet connectivity. It is a nice condo but that is all you are getting. I never post reviews but I felt that this was falsely advertised and people need to know truly what they are paying for. I will stay somewhere else in the future unless the price...
Read moreThe condo is in primo condition, a beautiful location, and Cody's Gastro Garage is a restaurant sports a fun atmosphere with great food. ||Unfortunately, management leaves much to be desired. One of the staff saw our 22 year old son (unbeknownst to us) smoking a 'clove cigarette' on the balcony one morning, resulting in a surprise $336 charge to my credit card. Reviewing the contract, I realized it stated smoking anywhere 'may' result in this fee. ||I called the manager to explain this wasn't tobacco, we were unaware and would never allow smoking on their premises. I asked for a reduction in the fee to $100 which I would have our son pay for the lesson learned. No one in our family smokes tobacco and we took excellent care of the unit, even avoiding shoes inside. The manager refused, stated I was lying, insisting the unit reeked of smoke, and complaining that we got a great deal on the condo (prior to memorial day opening season at Bear Lake when we were the only visitors, so of course they gave us a deal!). He ultimately offered me $50 off, still resulting in an extra $286 loss to my family and profit to their company. || I was happy to pay some portion of the fee for the 'clove cigarette,' but was terribly disappointed in this unfounded accusation and huge added expense...
