It's a nice park with an excellent boardwalk down to the beach. This boardwalk is one of the few places that you can see fireflies for only a few days each year in bear lake. Only problem is, to view these fireflies you have a small window of time right as the park is scheduled to close. We arrived at 10:15 and the gate was still open. This lead us to assume that garden city had suspended the gates closure as it's very popular to view these fireflies. Less than 30 minutes later we went to leave and found that the gate had been shut and locked behind us. The ONLY SIGN stating the park gate closes is in tiny letters on a tiny sign and there is a $250 fine for overnight parking. It is located on the gate, unless you stop at the gate you will not see it. We spent another half hour trying to get out. Police couldn't do anything aside from giving us a ride but they never showed up. We finally were let...

Garden City, Utah, is an absolute treasure nestled on the shores of stunning Bear Lake. The town is charming, peaceful, and full of that small-town hospitality that makes you feel instantly welcome. Whether you’re visiting for a summer getaway or just passing through, there’s something special about this place.

Bear Lake’s turquoise-blue water is breathtaking—perfect for boating, paddleboarding, or just relaxing on the beach. The town itself offers great local food (you have to try a raspberry shake), cute shops, and plenty of outdoor activities, from hiking and biking to fishing.

Garden City strikes a perfect balance between laid-back relaxation and outdoor adventure. It’s family-friendly, clean, and surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the West. Definitely worth the trip—especially...

We didn't stay at the park proper, but rather parked there to get to the beach.

You take a short boardwalk from the main park that goes through beautiful marshland, then you arrive on a pretty little beach. The beach is very clean and cared for, and there's no weird things like left over fishing lines and other gunk. There's flush toilets too and garbage cans. There's also a sign about the Bear Lake Monster!

The water is beautiful, and the bottom is very soft and silty. You walk further out and swim, the water is as beautiful and clear as ever. The marshland extends a bit into this area and there's a muddy sandbar our kids had a riot playing in. This was a great public beach, and a great alternative if you don't want to pay the state park fee for one of the...

Great place to swim with my dogs. Normally, I would give this 5 stars, but the water is so high there is almost no beach this year. The boardwalk is great access, and there are some interpretive signs telling you about the lake and the area. There is a rest room and rinse station, and kayak/paddle board rental. A couple of picnic tables in the trees. Because of the high water, it was pretty crowded with even a dozen families, but we could still swim. The upper park has a nice playground, covered pavilion and good grassy area. Ample parking and always seems well maintained.

Nice little park, pavilion and grassy area with a boardwalk through wetlands to the beach. My 4 and 5 year old walked it easily, I was glad to have a stroller for the stubborn 2-year-old. Some photos in here show a sandy beach. It isn't. It's rocks and dirt and a little hard, shallow sand. My kids loved wading into the lake and throwing rocks. I was expecting sand because of the pictures and brought shovels and buckets that were pointless. Still fun, just wanted to leave this review to help you know what kind of fun to expect.
